Member Posts: 7 | Good Morning Desoto Family!! Can anyone help me put my Bellow Brake Booster back together properly? Last year I took apart the bellow brake booster on our 1957 Desoto Adventurer Convertible so I could clean it up and paint it. There was nothing wrong with it other than it needed cleaned up. Anyway, I thought the book I have showed how to put it back together. It does not. It only shows how to re-assemble the canister type and not the bellow type. I put the brake booster back together the best I could figure out but something is not right? When I start the car the brake booster is already activated with vacuum? I have to have something installed wrong. If anybody has an instruction manual on how to re-assemble one of these, I would greatly appreciate it. Thankx, -Don

Member Posts: 7 | Very interesting read. Thank you for the link. I think it is more than that? As soon as I start the car the vacuum activates the bellow and compresses it. There is something I did wrong in the re-build. The bellow should not be activated from the vacuum of the engine until after I step on the brake pedal. I know that is not right. Again, if someone has an instruction manual or can very carefully take one apart to show me how the pieces go back in the correct way, I would greatly appreciate it!! Please nobody go out of their way to take one apart. If you are thinking about it or have to that would be awesome!! I know that the rubber bellows themselves go bad and they have replacement kits for them. Thankx, -Don
