Hi People, this is a friends 60 New Yorker convert that he would like to sell. It is a special ordered and built car for Ross Roy himself, of the ad firm Chrysler used back in the day. Car has documents to support it. Red leather and loaded. Not a restored car but has been painted back in the 70s, has had recent mechanical repairs like power window and seat and top mechs restored, tune, all new brakes, new top etc. Runs and drives swell. The car does have rust in the rockers and some other minor places, good floors and decent trunk. He would like $65k which I think is a pretty reasonable ask. Drop me a line if you know anyone interested. Thanks!

Nice!
One thing that caught my eye (and can't be unseen by me I'm afraid) is how far up the windshield ends up compared to the roofline and side windows.
Which makes the car, with the roof and side windows 'up', look very unproportional and out-of-place imo.
A lower, matching height, windshield would have been a much better option I think.

Yes, the whole outside of the car is stock except for the wheels. The seat upholstery is far from stock!! Lots of discussion on the car on the FB page. The car was ordered and owned by Ross Roy, INC who did Chrysler's advertising in those days. The seller claims the custom interior in leather came with the car specially built for Ross Roy. I disagree completely. It's a one off interior, and is not shown as an option in the color and upholstery book for 1960 Chrysler convertibles or any other model for that matter. The factory assembly plant would not have had a "one-off" interior to install .... The seat patterns also follow the design of 1965 300-L seats and even has an aluminum insert in the top center of the rear seat like the 300 J,K & L models. Chrysler was not in the habit of building one-off interiors for any car unless maybe a pre-production car. I surmise that either of these situations: - the car was built stock and shipped to a custom upholsterer before delivery, OR around 1965 the seats were re-done in red leather in the basic pattern of 300-L seats. The car does however, have an 888 special order trim code - Id; like to see the build record.

We discussed this car long ago, if I remember correctly it had some rust issues as well. The chromed crowns in the set backs and speaker grille looks like 60' Chrysler, so they must have been added to the seats.

The rear backrest is from another car for sure, the original backrest doesn't have a speaker grille.

The latest update on the convertible comes from Rex Roy, a son of Ross Roy himself. This is copied and pasted from the Facebook Forward Look page. The interior, has, apparently been in the car from very early on according to Rex.

Rex Roy: "Diego Rosenberg: Thanks for the heads up on this post. Aaron Kahlenberg: Nice to reconnect with you after 40-some years. Hello everybody. I'm one of Ross Roy's sons. This is one of my father's cars. Born in 1962, I don't recall the earliest years of the New Yorker, but I do know plenty about it. The basic story: It was not uncommon for well-connected individuals to get custom-ordered cars built at the factory. My dad had many throughout the 1950s. In 1960, he ordered two new cars, this New Yorker (his personal car) and a 1960 Imperial LeBaron Southhampton Pillared 4-door (his company car). Both had custom interiors. The Imp had a blue wool broadcloth as I recall. I actually don't know the particulars of the New Yorker's interior, but I believe it always looked like what you presently see (so this would have been pre-300L). One thing you can't see is the quality of the leather. It's ultra-premium. At that time in his life, my father only kept his cars 6-9 months. The car was sold to an employee at Ross Roy, Inc. My mother complained that she wanted it back, so it was after a relatively short time, but even in that amount of time it required some work to be acceptable to my father. That was refurb. #1. After a few years, my mother tired of the car and it was put in storage. It surfaced in the mid-70s when my mother needed a car to drive at her Florida home. The car needed an extensive exterior restoration at that time. I purchased many new chrome and trim pieces. Details like the clock were fixed, and I recall it took some serious work to get the brakes working again. It looked and drove great, and I put thousands of miles on it in the late 1970s. Some of the rust is undoubtedly from living on the Atlantic coast of Florida for almost 2 decades. At some point in the 2000s, the car was given to my younger brother who lived in LA. He sold it after a couple years. Then the "floating" began. At some point in the last couple of years based on the ads I've seen over the years, the top got changed from white to black. If there are any specific questions on the car, I'll be happy to answer them if I can."
