I figured that I would start this thread for the people with just a couple/few photos from
car shows and get togethers. There are not a lot of Forward Look cars at the shows around here.
I have been to two car shows so far this year. Here are some pics.

When you see a picture like 0220 you realize these old BIG cars were not a whole lot different in size then today's full sized cars. Between that 1959 and the 2014ish the 59 wheelbase is only 2" more. It's total length is about 17" more. The other dimensions are not greatly different. The 59 actually weights LESS by a few hundred pounds. The 59 has over twice the trunk capacity. The 2014 has low seats giving it significantly more headroom. Anyway, my point is that the 59 really isn't any more a "big huge car" then the 2014 except for it being a foot and a half longer. Yeah, it's handling and acceleration are worse, that's the area where the real changes took place. 9.5 v 5.7 0-60 difference. The info is from http://www.automobile-catalog.com/ attached is a pdf of the comparison.

Here are a couple of pics I took of my friend's car at Spring Fling in Van Nuys. This is an original fuel injected '58 300D. Notice the weird oil fill tube. If anyone has info on original parts or details to be able to make up the original system, we would be very grateful.

My 331 hemi Plymouth is the last photo. DepsilonD's '56 Dodge was there too, but I didn't make it over to get pictures. Maybe he will post some here.

Nice 300D. There was one for sale on eBay in 2010. It was a solid driver car, same color.

Sid, the 60 is a beauty! You should post up some recent pics in the members rides, am keen to see some detailed photo's.

The supercharged 59 is also a ripper, as is the custom 56 Chrysler.

I was thinking to put up some pics on this thread, but I am a bit humbled.

thanks! the restoration is over 150k miles/25 years old and recently some unknown ******** "keyed" the drivers side from taillight to headlight, last year i lost the drivers side stainless skirt at high speed on the autobahn after a car show. i guess someone fiddled with it. there is no rust, visible or elsewhere but its not a "show" car. but it still looks nice and drives like a dream at any speed. that old car is the embodiment of dependability and the love of my life.

I really like the 300D, a lot.

I also like the blown crossram car with one exception...the air cleaner/air duct is too 'Mickey Mouse'. I'd take the time to make on out of something other than press-braked sheetmetal. Small detail but on that engine it is 'front and center'.

I'm pretty amazed at how much power these blower/pro-charger set give an engine. One of my buddies has one in a 65 Chrysler 300, really nice unrestored car that has a 4 speed now too, but for being a heavy car is really digs in hard and sets you back. His is an early pro-charger so it is a bit geary sounding which is normal for the early ones I guess. He says the newer versions are quieter. He does run methanol injection through it from a bottle in the trunk, which I think is just windshield washing fluid but don't quote me on that. His has amazing power even just coming out of the hole unlike a turbo would do. With a Crossram engine not really kicking in the power until higher in the RPM scale, I would really like to know how this 59 Plymouth blown crossram runs. Does anyone know him ? I tend to agree with GregCon about the square tubing. Not knocking any ones work at all because it looks amazing, but everything else is round/oval flowing tubes. I kind of would like to turn my 57 plaza into a blower sleeper like this someday. If the world hasn't imploded first. Mopar or no car !

The only FL car seen at this year's Springfiled (OH) Memorial Day car show was a 1961 Chrysler 300G with long ram minfolds. It seemed pretty good to me although there was one old timer who looked at it and told me that he thought the seating leather had been replaced and badly at that. You be the judge.

Your drive-in pics remind me of the time I took my '57 Desoto Firedome sedan to a drive-in about 45 minutes from where I live. I forgot that today's drive-ins, if they still exist, usually use FM radios to transmit the movie sound. (When I grew up, you hooked a speaker-on-a-pole to your car window...). I didn't have an FM radio, but with the windows down, I could hear sound from cars parked around me. That is, until it got cool and everyone rolled up the windows! With no sound, the movie was bad, so we left. To top it off, a couple blocks from my house, I hit a skunk that came out in front of me! THAT'S a bad evening!

Thats funny! Not for the skunk though. What happens when you hit a skunk, is it as bad as I imagine?

I hit a cat with my Imp on one of its first 'legal' test runs in 2013. I nearly cleaned up an aboriginal drunk the same trip. The brakes worked good from 50 MPH! They still work good too.

The degree of unpleasantness involving skunks depends on if said
skunk unleashed its spray of love juice and to what level you or your
car get sprayed. A direct shot can result in a heavy stink that lasts a
LONG time .... months !

Back in my high school days, a friend's Dad was quite the miser and
gathered all sorts of stuff to barter around to keep the family in stuff
they needed. This included stacks and stacks of crated fruits and vegetables.
It was my friend's job to go through these on a regular basis and cull
out the stuff that was going bad and feed it to the livestock.

Being the devious kids we were, some of the rotting goods were set
aside as ammunition for a device we called The Funnelator .... a 12"
plastic funnel with 32 feet of surgical tubing woven through some holes
we drilled in it to get a 4x loop. On the other end of the surgical tubing
loops were 6" rings, used as handles. With 3 people, one holding each
ring, and a 3rd pulling the funnel back with a launch object, we could
place apples, zucchinis, or just about anything into earth's orbit with ease.

Enter the drive-in theatre .... !

Out towards Bellevue was one such drive-in. Up on the hill above, the
old NP mainline ran past on it's way north to Canada. By 1978, the BN
merger was 8 years old and the old NP main was pretty quiet, with traffic
all redirected over the GN water line out of Seattle. Anyway, we'd take a
couple crates of rotting veggies and the old funnelator out there, park the
truck, and walk them down the tracks to a good launch point across the
screen of the theatre.

Now, the objective here was not to rain junk down upon the cars below,
but rather, to make a trajectory with the veggies across the projector's
path, causing large black "shadow objects" to fly across the screen. The
challenge being to get them as close to the projector as possible, thusly
creating larger black blobs to "eclipse" the screen. It was quite hilarious
to see the tumbling silhouette of a flying zucchini fly across the screen.
Moviegoers must have found it halarious too, as soon a horn storm would
erupt and much mayhem would ensue. Good thing there was a high fence
to keep people from sneaking into see the movie without a ticket, because
it seemed many people wanted to come up on the tracks and join us in our
fun.

This might go on for 30 minutes. We'd usually end up emptying a couple
crates of goods and make our way back to the truck and go get some late
night chow at the Burgermaster drive-in, letting the moviegoers sort out
what all the black blobs were about.

Today, we'd be on a national terrorist wanted list for doing such things.
