Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knows the best way to clear off the rust buildup around the hub caps, and what products you would recommend for said procedure, as well as the best paint to touch up the hubs to match the car color.

Thanks,
-Adam

If it's a stainless steel cap, use steel wool and polishing compound.

Adam, what is your car? Some wheelcovers are polished stainless steel and others have been chromium plated. There is a difference in how to treat them. Can you post a picture or two so we can see what you are dealing with?

My apologies, I suppose that threat was a little too vague. I have a 1955 Plymouth Savoy and the hubcaps are stainless steel, they are not the issue however, as they are not rusty at all. The area on the wheel around the hubcaps is all rusty. I have included a photo. Thank you for your replies.

No problem. If you just want to make them look nice for driving around town, sandpaper and a paint brush and a pint of paint will take car of that edge of 4 wheels. From there, you can have them blasted and painted at a body shop or even powder coated. Your choices .
