I pulled an engine/transmission out a of 56 Desoto Fireflite.....curious on the trans if it the original. Number on it is 1638292. Then there is a "D" - H - 18- 55

Anyone have a parts book to identify it ?

Not sure if the 18 - 55 is a date code hence me asking. Different rebuild kits between an early 56 and a late 56.

Yep....that was the closest I got (have the parts book.) could not find 1638292. thanks.

I use the electronic (pdf) version of the 1955-58 Mopar Parts book and I did a search on 1638 292 and nothing came up in the 1268 pages of the book.

Searched the 1268 pg pdf and as expected 1633 721 didn't show up. Casting numbers almost never do.

Thanks....I have a another 56 Fireflite I am restoring...will see what the numbers are on that one. Hopefully the numbers will be in the parts book...thanks.

Did see on another site someone had a powerflite for sale out of the 56 Plymouth (air cooled) cast number was 1633721-1....go to be a sheet with cast numbers somewhere....
