Looks like a good parts car. $1000 isn't a whole lot, but you don't get an engine or tranny. Looks reasonably solid, but this is in the Pacific northwest so who knows with all that moisture up there.

Umm.... you need to travel more. Yakima WA is on the rain shadow side of the Cascade Mountain range, in a very dry, almost desert area, probably similar to Fresno CA where the only things that grow have been irrigated. Lots of orchards and vineyards in the general area. Overall, dry = likely less rust than you imagine (but more photos would confirm that).

Annual Precipitation in Yakima WA = 8.35 inches

Annual Precipitation in Fresno CA = 12.83 inches (Yakima is drier !!)

My bad. I just assumed that all of Washington was more or less the same. I didn't realize there were arid areas up there.
