The ad listing title states 1961 Desoto but the actual info in the description has the correct model year of 1960

Don’t believe this one has been posted already.

The link to ad is below also attached a photo of car from the ad

Trashed and missing the motor & rear bumper....yeah, it's not selling anywhere close to $12k.

I agree, they aren't in the market with that price.

I've seen more than a few 60's titled as 61's.

Is this car really an Adventurer? If so, were Adventurers just the top model of the DeSoto line in 1960 (similar to Fury for Plymouth)? Or was it still a limited production, high performance package?

This sold for just $660 more:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1960-DeSoto-Fireflite-/273194962596?hash=item3f9bb04ea4%3Ag%3A0qwAAOSwPDda675l&nma=true&si=K7IIp2%252BHRfdxXaoT%252BF1JK6twGJE%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Sure, it's not an 'Adventurer' but by 1960 the 'Adventurer' name was far less exclusive than it had been for 57-59 and it could be found on all body types (sedans and coupes), and today is nowhere near as desireable as the 57-59 Adventurers. You'd probably spend $10000-$25000 getting that coupe restored. This guy is dreaming if he thinks he'll get $12 grand for that. The worst part of all this is that the car is definitely worth saving, but at that price it's just going to sit and deteriorate more and more because the owner has such an unrealistic price attached to it.

================================

DeSoto got clipped back to two models for '60. The Fireflite dropped
like a lead balloon to the bottom slot when the Sweep and Firedome
were eliminated. Adventurer basically became what Fireflite had been
since 1955. With the new concept of making hi-po gear optional across
all models like the D500 for Dodge, cars like the exclusive Adventurer
were pointless and the name degraded to a regular model. Dodge and
Chrysler kept their concepts of the 300 and D500, but DeSoto and Plymouth
took a different tact, watering down the name with ordinary builds. Poor
Plymouth built anything and everything under the formerly special "FURY"
name .... wagons, road graders, dump trucks .... !

ask for 12k get 7k.. This is a "fast and loud" world we live in now...

Expect buyers to basically say Ill offer 50%!! farker! Im wheeling and dealing, I drive a hard bargain!

hah Or they see some stupid car show where everything is worth 200k.

Stupid I know but people are jacking their asking prices way up due to the stupid car show effect...

If that car was "solid" it would be worth maybe 5-6 just for the body but of course he didnt post floorboard pics.
