Does anyone know if the 1957-1960 Desoto had common steering gear/column, placement and geometry as the 57- 60 Plymouth? Were the frames the same? Much obliged for any information.

Plymouth is a short car, desotos are the mid size and long cars. Doubtful anything fits. Go to mymopar and download.the interchange book.

60+ was unibody, with a sub-frame, except Imperial, so the frames can't be the same.

My understanding is that all short and middle wheelbase cars 118/122 inch share the same steering components, even in unibody and frame cars. I believe all steering boxes interchange from 58-61 regardless of wheelbase. I'm not sure if centerlinks and tie-rod ends interchange between 118"/122" and long wheelbase cars.

Agree. But first the OP has to tell us whether he is talking manual or power steering.

He should go to http://www.mymopar.com/index.php?pid=107

and download the 55-58 Parts catalogue and the 50-65 interchange manuals.

Section 19 in the parts catalogue, starting at page 573 of 1268.

One example (from page 587 of the 55-58 Parts catalogue):
