Hi all

So..... anyone here know much about the 58 dodge custom royals assembled here in Adelaide SA? Thrry say around 250 were built here. Wondering if can tell build number also. What else..... oh.... cant figure out what kind of intake manifold i have. Part number is 1787707 and looks same as the new 440 weiand intakes.

I bought this a few weeks ago.... finding a starter motor for a 361 isnt easy. Sourcing one from CAE though.

1737707 - 2 Barrel manifold for B series big block V8. Standard for 1958 with 350 cu in
1737708 - 4 Barrel manifold for same engine.
The 440 intakes are different, although to the naked eye they look the same.
If you are thinking of stepping up to a 4 barrel then this is what you need:

I think you'll find the production numbers were higher than that...

Around 5-700 a year for each of the models assembled, the Custom Royal and the Plymouth Belvedere. Maybe some of these went to New Zealand, I don't know. In 1960 they just had the Phoenix and I seem to recall seeing figures of around 1000-1200 a year for those in '60 and '61.

All of them were 4-door sedans, all automatics. Except for the two fully-imported '60 models.

Each year two complete cars were shipped from Canada along with the CKD kits, in 1960 somebody bungled and sent manuals. These cars were intended to be used to ensure the boys on the assembly line could work out any difficulty in locating where parts went.

Well....... the ole girl was on her last legs...... but not any more. First 3 weeks of owning her...we have been flat out. this is the outcome so far.

1 broken push rod found and discarded.
New one put in.... after we fixed the sticky valve n stuck lifter.
Now have oil pressure.
Had to fix the oil pressure gauge in the car too. That now works. New hoses.
New brake hoses.
Bleed n adjust brakes
Holley 500 rebuild
New timing chain
Flushed out radiator n block
New starter motor.
New fuel lines and inline filter
Found source of puffing noise.... 1 cracked n broken right hand zorst manifold. (need to fix or find another)
New 2nd hand wheels n tyres
New plugs, points, cap, rotor

So.
.. this.... is just the beginning......

Next week..... buy some sheet metal.
