Subject: 1959 Imperial taillight rings painted?

Location: Chicago		Friends are putting a 1959 Imperial Crown convertible back together. The ribbed center sections of the chrome taillight rings were painted black on this car (the car was previously painted and some older restoration work was done on it.) They had the rings rechromed but now are wondering if that center section should be painted or not. Looks like the sales brochures and press kit photos show them not painted. They said they are seeing them both ways. Anybody have thoughts on what would be correct?

Location: Kansas City, KS		The Ghia limousines had the painted black centers but they were a custom made ring and didn't have the horizontal ribs.
Your friend's '59 convertible should be chrome with the gold Crown emblem like the pic Dave posted above
