Beautiful car regardless. I like the uncluttered look of the 58 fin trim better than the 57 CRL trim but don't care for the abbreviated quarter stainless (sure don't think much of the grill design of 58's though.. Eeeh!). My 57 was robbed of the stock fin trim but came with a good 58 set. Thought about installing that, but figured Neil would have something to say about that, so after 2 years and considering that discretion might be the better part of valor I have gathered all the stock CRL 57 trim. $1000 later and all missing parts gathered, now to polish stainless and rechrome bumper teeth.. Have to sell the 58 fin trim one of these days to recoup some of the steep cost of the 57 trim. Just kidding Neil

Some people regard JWow (who?) as being beautiful, too.

Anybody know what happened to/have seen this car after it was on eBay? I still kick myself for not flying down to see this beautiful piece of automotive art in the flesh when it was up for auction!

Congrats, Mike! That is a great car!  I don't know what you may have paid (and I don't want to know), but it seems like you may have bought at the right time.  I read an article in a sports car buyer's magazine recently.  There was an article on a '59 Adventurer convertible from the J.S. Cars of Dreams (I don't think that's yours, but not sure) - it said that the 1950's big fin market is declining.  If true, that may make the CRL convertible purchase an even better deal.  Regardless, sweet deal - I hope you enjoy it to the fullest!

Sport Car buyers magazine is filled with idiots. I've written them a few times over their car condition reports. They're so far off the mark on the ones I'm familiar with it, it's not even funny. There have been record prices for fin cars lately, not sure how that's declining. The best cars are bringing super premium prices. A lot of average cars have come to auction and got average prices. Because their evaluators are morons, they think they're #1 cars, when they're #2- at best. I love an article that talks about an era of cars declining, while mentioning a 330k car lol. Not to mention the 57 that went for 220 behind it.

I did some horse trading on the 58. I think both sides got a great deal for the type of car they wanted.

The article I saw came from Keith Martin's Sports Car Market.  I don't even know much, but even I could see it was filled with errors.  There was a lame parenthetical note at the end stating "Introductory description courtesy of Barrett-Jackson."  Probably not worth the paper on which it was written.  Enough of that.

Glad you got the car.  I am totally biased toward '58 Dodges - I just think everything was right on that make, that model year.  Yours is a showcase example.  It is good to have the freedom and stock to do some horse trading.  That makes deals on these high-dollar cars a lot easier!
