Yes, the reason was an ice storm and interrupted power supply - In cases of power loss, we have 20 minutes of UPS (battery backup) and then the forum goes down.

That are the downsides of 'home-hosting'. It's nice enough for non-important websites but anything more than that you need proper webhosting.
I know 'nature' in the USA can be a b!tch, but everyone knows that webhosting in a proper equiped datacenter with redundant network and power connections would be the way to go.
But I'm sure the weather situation in part of the US have been bad enough recently.

Getting back to web site today for me was kind of goofy. Got this site: http://www.forwardlook.net/ and hit the disscusion forms on it, then this site opened up. At any rate glad to see it back.
