Expert 5K+ Posts: 9648 Location: So. Cal | But the original master works fine with it. You would think there is a residual pressure valve that would cause the discs to drag, but that's not the case - at least there isn't enough residual pressure to cause an issue. I have run a couple of cars with the original masters on them without any drag on the discs at all, and they work great with the 1.125" bore on them. Edited by Powerflite 2018-11-12 7:31 PM

Since you posted it here, I do not doubt it is the truth, but, that really surprises me! The oe residuel valves are very often not working as they should.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9648 Location: So. Cal | Yes the original single pot master, and I was surprised too. I didn't expect it to work either so I tested it out quite a bit when I first converted them to disc. But my '56 Plymouth has been driving with the single pot master for many years now and my '58 DeSoto & '57 Windsor is still using it as well. I had my '61 Lancer setup that way for a while as well, until I changed it out for a 2-port master. None of them have dragged at all with the original masters. I definitely prefer to have a 2-port master and I will eventually swap them all out, but the original master works great with the discs for some reason.

Regular Posts: 53 | So if I may briefly hijack this thread, what’s the best route to take if one wants to fully upgrade to a 2-chamber master cylinder with vacuum boost? I’m about to swap out the front with a Mustang II which includes disc brakes, and I’m trying to sort out the master cylinder now. Should I just get an aftermarket booster assembly with a matching pedal assembly and go from there, or is there a bit more “made to fit” application available? I have a 1956 Coronet 2 door
