Doesn't get much better than this if you like the 59's. Looks fantastic inside and out. Price seems a tad high.

What the heck - even Doc might like it................. Naw!

But I will say, of all the '59 FL cars, the DeSoto has the cleanest lines in my opinion.

Quite the interesting interior!!

Spring Special on 2 and 4 door hardtop Seville Firesweeps and Firedomes only. Exterior color was a late addition along with the interior. Dad had a Firedome 4 HT when new. Very attractive back then and even today.

Car looks terrific. If you think it's priced a little high, restore one to the same level yourself and let us know what you think it's worth.

It may have been discussed here on the forum before (there are no pics, but the description does match): www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=44417

And here are some ads showing that interior option. The last image shows it was available with the swivel seats too. Very neat!

I don't think it's art deco. Art deco is like subdued dark colors overlaid by patterns that often consist of arches and curves. I think the interior looks more googie in my opinion.

It's definitely NOT art deco.

Art Deco came in two flavours: Aztek/Mayan/Egyptian Geometrics in the late 1920s/early 1930s and Streamline Moderne with a lot of curves from about 1934 to WW2. Both have a lot of repeats

The Chrysler Building has lots of the Aztek/Mayan/Egyptian thing going on:

These have a blend of both:

====================================

It's so hideous, it's great !

I remember sticking my head into wrecking yard cars and seeing this interior.
I also remember my father wearing plaid bell bottom pants that were a pretty
"groovy" match !

But history is what it is, regardless of what we think about it now. If I saw
this car today, I'd get a big smile and enjoy a little laughter. I am glad someone
restored this to the plaid interior specs. I would not want it for myself, but it sure
is cool. It represents a very real slice of the times.

Charlie Pieri restored a car like this. Seems to me it was dark red and had the
Adventurer Power option, but that was 25 years ago. I could be thinking of a
different car (?) I do remember him talking about this interior and having the
cloth made. Could this be Charlie's car ?

I remember when I was a kid, there was a car nut a few blocks to the south who LOVED '59 De Sotos!  He had three or four of 'em parked out front of his house on the street.  A few blocks to the north, there was a nut who LOVED '62 Imperials - he had a couple of them parked out on the street in front of his house.  It is rare to see any type of old car on the street now.  I appreciated them then, but I wish I would see more of that type of stuff today!

That is pretty much my attitude. ANY old car is, at the very least, INTERESTING.
I may critique ALL cars for design, because that is what I do professionally, and I
find it interesting. But even the worst of pre-70 cars are so much more interesting
to simply see going down the road or sitting in a driveway than 99% of what came
after.

I miss the days of my youth when many households had a "project car" in the drive-
-way or backyard. Often more than one. A few days ago I passed a yard full of cars.
It reminded me of those days, except "old cars" these days means all that plastic and
electronic-driven yawn-inducing material from the post-1980 days. Back when I was
a kid, it was ALL cool stuff, even if it wasn't something I'd want to drag home.

57burb is 100% right... This car is nicely done to a very, very high standard. How are you going to build a better one for 40K?
