I was able to purchase a dealer paint and fabric selector book off ebay for the '55 and '56 Plymouths. I have determined to post up everything from the book here on the forwardlook site so that everyone can reference and enjoy the information contained in them. I encourage the owners of books for other years to do the same. Just a warning, the book is quite large and it requires that I load very large pictures. So you will need to use a large computer screen to see them easily. I can't post them small because you won't be able to read the info on them if I do. Here is the front cover and the inside of it. The inside cover lists all the possible paint codes for various paint combinations. This info is also located on paint sheets, but I haven't checked to see if they match yet. It also gives codes for the sportone combo & single upper 2-tone.

The book provides 5 color transparencies of a 4dr hardtop Belvedere, a 2dr hardtop Savoy, a 2dr sedan Plaza, a Sport Suburban and a Custom or Deluxe Suburban, along with various color sheets that allow you to preview what each 2-tone color combo will look like. Pretty fun to swap things around to see all possible combos. The information on the back cover shows what combos are allowed on different models. Before this, I had no idea that some colors were limited to upper or lower models only!

The backside of each color panel has listed the models and occasions that color would be used. It's a lot of work to scan every card so I just made up a table to show what all is listed on them.

Finally, here are the fabrics shown in the book. I am a little disappointed that I haven't been able to find trim codes listed with the different fabrics yet, but hopefully that information is out there somewhere. I scanned these in, but my scanner is too short to fit the whole length. The part that is cut off is just the standard information that I wrote in black text next to where they apply.

Looks like some of those fabrics are the same as those used on the 56 Canadian Plodges, which would make sense. Not sure if the codes would be the same for a US 56 Plymouth.

Where:

Crusader = Plodge Plaza?

Regent = Plodge Savoy?

Mayfair = Plodge Belvedere?

Neat, you guys got pink available in your Savoy equivalent and Gray instead of Black in the Plaza equivalent. I was surprised to see that a white body was not allowed on lower level Savoys, Plaza's, & equivalent wagons. Only the Belvederes and Sport Wagons could have come with a white body.
