Expert Posts: 2119 Location: atlanta | I have a couple of questions about the picture, the bright trim ring around the "toilet seat", is that a seperate piece of trim, how does it install/attache. The dual antennas on the car, are they correct? they aren't power are they? i never realized they actually attach to the fins and not the flat deck area.

Board Moderator & Exner Expert 10K+ Location: .Norfolk..Mafia.. ,England UK | Yes the Red Trim ring is separate with the Stainless toilet seat, both bolt through the Trunk, I believe there would of been a weather seal around the red trim to seal it, My Brother Inlaw has a 60 Fury and his does Not have weather strip around it, and it appears something should be there, From all the 60 Furys i have seen stock , All had a front Passenger Fender Antenna, So i would guess those Dual Rears are a Add On, Clive UK

Expert Posts: 2119 Location: atlanta | I thought it looked a little odd to be on the fins and cheezy looking (IMHO) for as classy as the car is i would think they would have come up with something nicer. The toilet seat does look like some kind of seal or trim, it seems i have seen others with a chrome or stainless ring on the outside edge where it mounts to the trunk. Anyway, thanks for the input.

Expert Posts: 4589 Location: Northern New Jersey | I got one for my 60 Fury though I never put it on. The outer edge usually gets tha plastic chrome channel molding that they sell in auto parts stores that is used for door edge guards. Sometimes it'll match the body color if you can find it. The rear antennas at the top of the Fin could have been a dealer installed option. I've never seen a Print Ad for a 60 Plymouth with rear antennas.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 5006 | the ordering form shows dual antennas as an accessory... it must have been the fin mounted type? http://1960plymouth.com/Sales_Book.htm

Expert Posts: 4589 Location: Northern New Jersey | They. We're Dealer installed. Dealers were encouraged to use only Molar OWN parts, though many dealers used aftermarket products. As I said earlier, I haven't seen a 60 Plymouth with either single or dual rear antennas.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 5006 | here is the 61 Dodge, they had to use "flat" ones, not the side mount ones. You can see its aftermarket. You can see the black line in the middle, so its not the 57-59 version. I guess you could use "flat" sets on the 60, 61 cars. That still looks darn good. New User Posts: 4 | I realize this is a bit off topic. Ive got a 1960 belevedere with a code p318 polysphere 318. Question ... I want to bolt an aluminum torqueflite 3spd auto to it. The poly seems to be locked up but havent dove into it yet. Do i need an adaptor for that or would be easier to rebuild it with 70s 318 crank & said tranny. Another thought just get newer poly block. Id put a 400 big block in it but theyre center dump oil pans. Also where can i get floor patch pans. Mine are ate up. Any info would be greatly appreciated. And personally i love the dual antennas n continental kits

Expert Posts: 2196 Location: Muskego, WI | Gashog, See my thread, I've been down the road you're on. Whatever transmission you use has to match the crankshaft, the crankshaft flanges changed in/after 1962. In my 1960 Plymouth, I bought a '66 318 Poly so I could use a later manual trans. Had to swap my original oil pan and exhaust manifolds onto my newer motor to get it to fit and hook up to the exhaust. http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=58722&...
