I thought the TorqueFlite trans became standard in DeSotos in 1957?

On a Firesweep, standard was a manual.

DeSoto Firesweeps were built on a Dodge chassis at the Dodge plant. TorqueFlites were an option over the standard equipment manual and the next option - Powerflite. TorqueFlites were standard on the Firedomes, Fireflites, and Adventurers where automatic transmissions were used. I'm not sure if a manual transmission was available on any other '58 DeSotos other than Firesweeps.

IMO this is a fantastic car. Not for everyone considering it's had more corpses in it than Gacy's crawl space. Seller is the local mortician and the car is original to the funeral home. He knows that it's worth something to someone but i think he's still too high with his BIN.
I made an offer awhile ago and he polietly declined.

This was for sale last summer.  I can't remember where the auction price ended - must have been short of $18,500?
