I’d like some feedback from people who have gotten a new fuel tank for their Forward Look car. I wonder if they are all made by the same company (and essentially the same part, different vendor) or whether there are any differences (quality) in the ones available. I’ve just found out I need a new fuel tank and can’t seem to remove my old sender, so probably need a new one of those too. I see some on eBay, and on Kanter. Anywhere else I should be looking?

What is the issue with your existing tank ? The sender should come out. You have to rotate the holddown counter clockwise. Once that is removed, you should be able to lift right out. Also, I recommend reconditioning your old one unless it's totally messed up.

Yes, same company makes all repro tanks. They are all 23 gal, so you will need different straps as well.

My existing tank has been sitting unused with fuel in it for decades. I cannot get even air to flow in or out the fuel outlet. I dropped it down to see if I could get it cleaned and reconditioned and it’s wafer thin with multiple rust holes in the upper rear driver’s corner - still trying to figure that out. Why upper? Don’t know. I’d rather use an original or NOS tank than a repro, but assume pickings are slim in that area.
