For some reason cars built for 1959 do not have vin. tags ! In New York, Plymouth used the engine number for the vin.Other states used the body number.I finally found my vin. number, its on left side of engine block below cyl. head, and they didnt stamp them very deep ! If you dont have original engine I have read that it is also stamped in right side frame top @ frame kick up.So dont worry if your vin. tag is missing, because it was never there !

I’ve got a 1959 Sport Fury convertible that I’m 99% sure has a VIN tag (door jamb), but doesn’t have a data tag - original paint, so I know it wasn’t removed. Still don’t understand that.
