Arizona_mopar_gold (John S.) had previously posted photos of the 325 hemi in his new-to-him 57 D500 wagon. I latched on to the fact that the engine had wire combs to help control and guide the spark plug wires between the distributor cap and the wire "tunnel"/cover on the valve cover. A week or so ago I lucked into a set of wire combs supposedly from a 392 hemi on eBay. The price was right so I bought them and after receiving them I gave them a bit of rust removal (a 24 hr swim in RustEater (phosphoric acid??) and cleaning. I installed them as a trial yesterday (they will need re-dipping in PlastiDip)

I did not even notice that I had installed them backwards relative to the ones on the 57 325 D500 hemi. I think I like my way better.

So I am curious:

1. Which hemis had these combs? (I looked for a PN but didn't find one - maybe I need to try harder)
2. Which orientation is correct, slots forward or slots rearward?

John's photos and then mine:

I don't know which is correct, but I like them how you have them as they direct the wires where they should go better. But under vibration, they may be more inclined to come out of the bracket maybe?

The ones on my D500 Coronet ..(not the D500 wagon)..were never touched...this car was/is all original....it still has the factory plug wires etc as well...runs and drives like a new car...clock has just over 50k on it
The wires have never shaken loose.
