After a few months after getting home and reassembling, I put the old girl back on the road. Pic shot at a local cruise night 2001.

Can't tell you how excited I'am to finally be posting on this fine network. I have been following for quite a while and have seen a lot of great things from everybody and I love the passion you all have for the finest cars on the planet !!

Back in the year 2000. I was starting to street rod a Chrysler coupe (1940 ). I was on the hunt for a V8 Chrysler motor. Anyways, at the time I was working at a collision shop and we had a guy named Stewart that picked up the scrap metal and bumper covers for recycle. One day he came in and was telling me about this car, guy named Mark owned it and was willing to sell. It had a big motor that I just might be interested in. He told me he worked also at another local collision shop. So I went to the shop phone in the parts room and called the other shop to see what this was all about. Mark picked up and told me it was a 60 Chrysler, I asked how much he wanted and he told me 200 dollars !! Being a skeptic, I got his address and went out there to look for myself. Now at that time I had no and I mean NO idea what a 60 looked like and did not care, all I wanted was to yank a motor for my car !! I could only imagine the car looked like a 64 and it was most likely a 4 door by the asking price quoted. I pulled into his driveway and could see the car in a garage with the tailfins sticking up in the air. I think right then I was hooked ! Looking at the car I could see that it was solid. Front clip was off the car as well as a lot of trim, doors, tail lights, seats etc. When I talked to Mark about the car I noticed he couldn't even look at it. He "acquired" the car thru a non payment of a Camaro he painted for some guy quite a few years back and he was never paid for the work he had done. The guy approached him with this car, running and driving, and handed him the keys, out of shame, and told Mark take it or leave it. Mind you this exchange had taken place back in 1985, last inspection sticker on car. Mark took the car and his father fell in love. This was to be a father son project and it was disassembled for resto. I first looked at the car in August of 2000. In January of 2000, Marks folks died in a car accident, he was going through a rough time in life. To make matters worse his wife was being unfaithful and you could see the whole affect of these issues in his demeanor, reason he would not look at car. His love with the car was over.

I called my cousin that had a pick up truck and scheduled a flat bed to meet us there. Deal was done for the 200, loaded the car on flat bed to come home with me. By this time I had already checked to see if the motor, that was still in the car, was not set up and it was not stuck. Hurray, I said I HAVE MY MOTOR !! At the same point I thought, what the heck will I do with the rest !! I really had no plan of what to do !! My cousin thought I was nuts !! Mark guided me to the attic of the garage and promised EVERYTHING for the car was stored up there. Almost blindly, me and my cousin carried box after boxes of parts down to his pickup and loaded them up. I started to notice double parts for the car and asked Mark why. He told me his father loved the car so much to restore, that he had found a 60 Windsor 4 door for parts and disassembled anything that he could to save. With everything loaded and now in love with the car myself, it came to mind, that I should ask about a title for car. I asked Mark about title and he said that he would have to look thru his dads stuff to see if it could be found. He turned to go into the house to look and I asked " How many miles are on the car ". Another important question, well since I was in love !! Still unable to look at car, looking at the ground he said " I think 38 or 39 thousand " Not wanting to look to excited, I waited till he went in house, ran to the car, walked inside (remember no seats ), wiped the dust off bubble speedo and it did read 39,xxx miles. Mark, I really think had nothing to lie about, being that he told me he was a "Christian", the loss he was going thru and his asking price. What would be the reason to lie. I know you can't believe everything someone say. I can't verify it, but now thru the years, condition of everything seen during my resto I believe it did. Conditions of pedals, engine, everything date wise stamped on car and last registered in 1985 driven, it seems to add up. Mark knew of this car for many years, prior to 1985, before he got it. I could see a sense of excitement, when he said that he would see the car often driving and parked out front of a local restaurant in his local town and the way it looked.

I have a bunch of chrome chevron old skool drawer handles to fill in mouth area on rear of my forward look. At least that's the idea for now.

Body color is gun metal metallic. Put some lights on it and it dances with sparkle. Took a modern formula, a Toyota color ( SORRY FOLKS !! ) and added more coarse silver and some red. Gives the original more spakle and brought out just a faint of a purple hew. Underside is dove gray, I refer to it as my china plate !!

Some things are just mocked up and need to be finished. Trying my best to have a quality car when finished.

Car has a touch of custom style as you can see.

Been buying, spending, hunting, sanding and sanding and sanding for quite some time now. It feels so good to be at this stage on the Chrysler, I know, still a lot of work to be done. Patience is a virtue.
