Location: Hay Lakes, Alberta, Canada		So...I am having a fight between my brain and my heart...and I imagine others have had this in the past. So, I'm asking for advice, and someone to come with a 2x4 and beat sense into me.

When I began getting into FL cars several years ago, I quickly found out that buying parts from a catalog was pretty much not an option. And neither was running to my nearest auto wrecker. So, I began buying whole cars to get the parts I required. Having lots of space made that easy.

But now, as I realize how rare some of these FL cars are, and see the work that many put into their cars, that are far worse gone than most of the "parts" cars I've bought... I feel pain parting my cars out. But, do I sell them, and then go back to searching for parts, paying for shipping, etc etc...

Or do I take off the parts I need, and then try to market the cars to someone who would want to restore them? And how do I know the buyer will actually do anything with them, besides parting them like I would? I guess the answer to that one is I can't know that.

But the local market is so small, and we don't "title" cars in Canada, so then selling whole vehicles to the States becomes a pain at best.

So, help me with some sage advice. Maybe I'll have an easier time clearing my head.

A guy's tag line on another site is something like " it's just easier to just push them out to the back 40 then then the hassle of selling them".
That's the philosophy that I use.
I think a lot of the time we let our own unreasonable perceived sense of other peoples expectations result in a lot of second hand guilt.
Do what is the right thing for yourself, ........ the rest is someone else's problem.

Location: So. Cal		There is an incredible demand for a 2dr '57 Saratoga. Don't part it out or you will regret it. I'll buy it off of you now if we can figure out how to get it past the border with a title. Parts are always out there, but good cars with VIN numbers are few.

As for what happens to them after you sell, who cares, no longer your problem, but how long will you keep them sitting on grass?

Are you going to be "that guy" with the cool cars rusting into uselessness?

Location: Lordstown, Ohio		personally i would part them,more money at times that way.. unless someone steps up to buy one whole, part them. there are way too many people always putting thier 2cents in and never stepping up. you got a buyer sell it. you got someone needing a part sell it

i myself have posted numerous cars on this site for sale hardly anyone steps up easy to part them let others progress

Cars can we shipped from Canada to the US I had my 2 58 Mayfair Convertibles shipped into Montana from Canada with Help from the previous owner .But unless you willing to Help I dont know what luck a US buyer would have getting them into the US .What Wayne said in the post above money wise you would do better parting them out .I personally wouldn’t sell any of them until your sure you don’t need anything off them for yourself ,I hate looking for parts that I had and sold.

What are the other cars? My vote would be to give them a chance. You can always part them if nobody steps up!
If nobody is bugging you to get rid of them and have the room to store them.

I have the room to store them, and no one is bugging me to get rid of them off the property. But I also realize that three or four of them could be resurrected, by someone with gumption and a boatload of cash.

And as they sit, they deteriorate...

I've been building stands out of old rusted rims, and putting under them, so they don't sink into the dirt.

I bought the Windsor a few years ago, just to get the passenger side sweep trim...I searched for over two years to try and find just the trim. Had to buy a whole car!

I'd be willing to sell it, minus that piece of trim. But keep in mind that this car was used as a parts car, by the previous owner, for a 300 restoration. So it is missing it's transmission, rad, heater...pretty much everything under the hood, with the exception of the engine.

Location: DFW, TX		When my dad's boss was unable to locate a good part he needed, he would buy a whole car (usually a restored car!) and take whatever it was he needed. He would then replace the good part with the "worse" part from the car being restored. And then he would sell the "parts car" again, and always for a profit.

He would roar with laughter telling us about that...

Location: So. Cal		I am willing to buy it if we can get the paperwork done. How bad are the floors in it? The only part for me that is really hard to get is the back window. If you have a lead on one of those, that would make it much easier. I have a set of '58 Saratoga sweep trim and a bunch of extra '57 Windsor trim. The upper rear is the same as the Windsor, and I may be able to modify the '58 trim to work for the '57 if I can pull it off.
