i have a pointed distributor in my dart and need a resistor . what should the resistance value be . i've seen em from .25 to @ 1.6ohms . the one that bit the dust was what i believe to be oem
with one nutted post and one push on . can't seem to find any real info on what to use . it's the first one in over 50 yrs of driving these clunkers i've had to change one . soon , probably spring i'll
be going to electronic conversion but i really need the car mobile now and break in after rebuild do to wrist pin freeze up----------------------------------------------later

the distributor is a 69

Seems like the same capacitors was used to many applications Chuck - heres some https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/dodge,1969,dart,6.3l+383cid+v8,1...

thanks wiz but thats not it , maybe ballist resistor would be a better term ....... something like this example below

Ok Chuck, any ballast resistor from a V8 would practically do, most important is that the voltage drops to 7-8 volt after the resistor.

Check these ones https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/dodge,1969,dart,6.3l+383cid+v8,1...

thanks buddy ,,,,, from what i've been able to sum up today is that the optimum added up OHM value of both the ballist resistor and coil is 3 OHMS , 1.5 for each gets me where i need to be . so i just checked my mallory coil
and it tests at 1.5 . then i checked the new ballist included in my pointless ign conversion and its 1.5 , adding up to the optimum of 3 OHMS . what i was really wondering by my question though , is will a new/nos oem ballist resistor
measure up with the newer mallory coil , considering it needs to be 1.5 as is my coil or were the older oem less/more than 1.5 . oh , and the older coil i have is also 1.5 , "all at high side"--------------------------------------------------later

I measured a spare "Ignition Parts" A1101 (replaced by C1101) ballast resistor Chuck and it was 0,7 ohms cold resistance.

The Standard Motor Products RU11 Resistor has a cold resistance of 0,5-0,6 ohms and an operating resistance of 1,75 ohms.
