I knew that the '55 Dodge Custom Royal had chrome removable fins on the back of it, and the '55 Belvedere didn't. I was surprised to find out that the '54 Belvedere did have chrome fins on it though, and so did the '54 Dodge - although they are much smaller. So why didn't the removable fins extend to the '55 Belvedere? Does anyone know if the '55 Dodge fins will fit on the '55 Plymouth? Has anyone tried it to see what it would look like?

I believe that the '54 Dodge & Plymouth high end cars are the first Mopars to get fins.

When I was a kid, my Uncle worked at a Chrysler Canada regional part distribution warehouse (in Regina, Saskatchewan). At that time he had a 55 Dodge (Plodge) Mayfair 2dr hardtop V8 automatic. At some point shortly thereafter, the rear fender "fins" (remember Canadian Dodge had Plymouth rear body work) suddenly grew chrome extensions, presumably some 54 Dodge Royal Chrome fins were "damaged" and had to be thrown out (right into my Uncles lunch pail, I think). Regardless, then my Dad had to have some for his 55 Dodge Regent (which became mine in 1967). Some how another set appeared.

When I got the car in 67, I kept them on. They "fit" (ish) and made the car look closer to the 56 Plodge / Plymouths which I still like to this day.

Sorry no photos handy (somewhere as a 35 mm slide)

Here is what the Chrysler Parts Distribution warehouses looked like (2 shots of the Vancouver warehouse from 2007 (they kept the facade for a new building) and one from Regina May 2019. Same building design but revised/modernized at some point):
