| any of you seen machine shop engine specs online? like cylinder bore taper, piston allowence, etc. cant seem to find anything. |

| There seems to be a conflict with bearings and part numbers. Crank journals are the same as the 440 but some manufacturers like clevite list different part numbers. ebay has bearings and use generic specs, 1959-1974 383-440. What gives? |

Location: Netherlands | Later 440-engines have a main trust-bearing with larger trust-faces then the earlier years.
The 'Earlier' small trust-face bearings fit all the 413/440's.
The large trust-face bearings only fit the later 440's.
Perhaps that's where the difference in partnumbers come from.
Rod-bearings should be all the same in stock form, but a range of bearings are made presently that have a large camfer on one side (or are just narrower overall) to accomodate a bigger crank radius. Mainly used on stroker cranks.

| the federal mogal rod bearings are sold as unplated and resizeable. What does that mean? |

Location: NorCal | Most rod/main bearings have a thin plate of tin over the babbit subsurface, the tin is the actual bearing surface. Once installed, un-plated bearings can be bored or honed slightly to adjust the bore size. |
