Based on the engine bay photos, I have no idea where the tag is or where it should be. I do wonder what the code is for things like the various zip-ties holding things up and the wooden "bar" that is being used to hold the battery down. Expert Posts: 3153 Location: NY & VT | My '58 Windsor was that same blah color, and quite sun faded being a New Mexico car. had I kept it longer I surely would have changed it. That eBay car is otherwise a beautiful car, though I've always preferred the '57 myself. In the mid '80s there was a small Chrysler-Plymouth dealer near us in our rural country town with FOUR '57s parked in a field out back... should have dragged at least one home! Location: Parts Unknown | Like most, I was a diehard 57 NY'er fan for a long time. But over time, the 58 NY'er side trim, and particularly the emblem lettering style really won me over. I have actually come to prefer the 58 tail lights, after seeing them lit up. But the 57 has the undeniably better bumper/grille. 58 is OK, but looks sort of ordinary, by comparison.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9604 Location: So. Cal | I feel the same way Doc. I loved and still love the '57 New Yorker as one of my all-time favorite forwardlooks. But the '58 is a really neat car too, and I have come to like them almost as much, if not more so. The only real downsides to me are the flimsy, flat front grille and the vinyl patterned package tray ornamentation instead of the metal Chrysler New Yorker emblems on the '57 that look so great. But the side trim, gold emblems, and bumper pods with large flares on the sides of the front bumper are truly awesome. The added benefit of original cruise control and the rarity of them make they even neater. And like you, I have grown to love the unusual dip at the top of the tail light that adds great personality and flare to an already great design.

Location: Parts Unknown | One of the "selling points" that drew me to Forward Look cars and my first one (57 NY'er 2HT), was the way the fin sweeps over the top of the tail light. The 57 design seems the more "natural" design of the two, but when you see them lit up at night, the 58 design wins, hands down. Like the 57 vs. 58 Plymouth tail lights work, the 57 fills the cavity like a giant rabbit ear, but the light is only right there at the bulb. The 58 design casts the light, through the lens, and the red then creates a glow inside the rest of the fin interior, ... a classis Googie period lighting design idea, applied to cars. The relevance of this is not lost on me, as a design guy as part of my work. The oversweep of the fin tip is even more accentuated on the 58 design, because the red lens turns forward, short of the top, leaving an even greater distance of overhang of the fin tip. So, even unlit, the fin is just that much more overswept, giving that illusion of movement. All plusses, in my book.
