Location: Houston		My first thought was that guy is nuts to think he's gonna get $150K for that car. Then, I saw that he had upgraded it to 4 stroke spark ignition which makes it the Deal of the Century. If he had also used 3/4 cams and a racing shifter...the sky would be the limit!

Even this is the wrong spelling for a steer, but that's what it made me think of.

Location: Lubbock, TX		I'm really surprised no one has commented on the optional quad bumperettes in the front, or the Bluetooth Heater hoses! Add in the dealer-installed rear Pioneer speakers and the Halo-Led Headlights and this car is perhaps the rarest factory-original 300B in existence!

Well, its not any of the modifications you can list on this 300.

Primarily mechanical upgrades in chassis and drivetrain for international road race competition in a class appropriate to the car is grand touring or "gran turismo".

Location: Lubbock, TX		My guess as to why the car was resto-modded was the new owner wanting power brakes and other accessories, probably snowballed downhill from there. Of course, I wonder where all that original stuff went? I wouldn't mind picking up the old carbs and aircleaner!

Location: northern germany		I really like the early 300s but know nothing about them. I'm actually very surprised that these could be ordered without PBs. And I'm surprised that a classic, of that caliber, falls into the hand of a "resto"-modder.
That said, the mods are relatively conservative and could be reversed easily and a dual master cylinder isn't really a downgrade.

I personally don't mind the aluminum intake and AFB's, but use small tops on them so you can keep that air cleaner intact. Without it, I would be embarrassed/disappointed to open the hood. That fuel line is an atrocity. That would be the first thing I changed if I owned it.

Exactly my point!! The batwing air cleaners are rare and expencive.

Location: So. Cal		I should point out that even the original looking engine has the wrong water pump, crossover and water neck on it. The 300B outlet points forward in the center, not to the right like the '57-'58 cars. He's got all 392 stuff on there instead. So even the original looking motor was probably a 392 and not the original 354. But change the outlet to the proper '56 version, and it would look much better.

Car has the angle thermostat housing and water pump of a 392 because, as the specs say, it IS a 392.

Power brakes were still optional as late as 1957 in a Chrysler 300C. Salesman still had to check the option box for you to get them and not all did.

I can't see how the VIN tag is attached in the left door panel photo. Several 300s (multi-years) have been CREATED from lesser models. Not at all difficult to find a '56 Windsor and a
'55 Imperial front end. Nothing about Chrysler Historical DOCUMENTATION with this car, now, is there? And a Windsor would be more likely to have come without PS.

All that and no alternator replacing the generator? Or is that a PowerGen or GenerNator (two modern alternators built to look like old alternators for the hot rodders) but the seller did not know to list it?

REGARDLESS, ain't NOBODY reading the FL forums that is about to purchase this car near this price.

So 1955-56 New Yorker and 300 has power brakes as standard and power steering as optional equipment.
1957 300C has repeated this «formula», but New Yorker (and debuted Saratoga) has not:
power steering is standard now and power brakes are optional in 1957 and next 1958 year.
In return, since 1958 and further, letter series cars has power steering and brakes as standard equipment, while New Yorker and Saratoga got these items since 1959…

Did some digging to confirm the 300B PS/PB situation.

This is what I found: The 300B brochure clearly shows that PS and PB fit with the Bat-wing air cleaner. Furthermore, the 300B brochure shows that PB was standard with the auto transmission but *NOT* available with the manual transmission (you might have to update your table Igor). PS was optional with the automatic but not available with the manual trans.

Sorry Dave, the manual transmission still optional equipment in 1956 for $70.00 (31 cars were equipped)
In 1955 manual transmission is not offered (as an air conditioning too), but in 1956 these options were available
You are right – PS and PB never available with manual transmission till 1960…
While French 4speed manual transmission Pont-A-Mousson was appeared – see 300F pictures below…

Igor: I never said anything about manual transmission not being available. The point that I made (please re-read as necessary) was Power Brakes (PB) were standard equipment with the automatic transmission and Power Steering (PS) was an option with the automatic transmission. However, as soon as the manual transmission option was selected, PS or PB were no longer available.

Your point, with the photos of the red 300B, is there aren't any PS or PB because the car has a 3 spd manual transmission. I agree with that.

The 300F stuff is irrelevant to this 300B discussion.
