I need to know if this is a 318 (internally balanced) or 360 (externally balanced) torque converter.  This TC came with my A518 overdriver automatic (in an early to mid 1990s Dodge van with a Magnum engine), but I don't know what exact engine it was mated to originally.  Do the weights mean its externally balanced?  Or is there a marking on the TC (or trans) that will tell me?  I need the appropriate lock-up TC for my 318.

The weight is for an externally balanced engine (360)

I think I found the answer, it appears the torque converters were universal for the Magnum engine series while the flex plate carried the weights for external balance for the 5.9 Magnum.

That site claims "The 5.9 Magnum uses a weighted flexplate and a neutral-balanced converter from the factory."

This is true of only the '96-later Magnum, the '93-'95 Magnum has the weight on the converter. The number 642 is a common rebuilder's number for the '93-'95 5.9 Magnum converter, it has a 91 gram square weight.

Forgot to mention, the 642 converter is a lockup. PK52118328 is a 518 (46RH) OD transmission from a '93-'95 Dodge PU, build date 2158 is around October/November '94.
