Nice car, but it doesn't have a Powerflite transmission as stated (but has a torqueflite). I also don't believe the interior is original, as stated. That style of cloth is correct for a Firedome sedan, but not for a 4-dr HT. Not trying to knock a great car, but you can't always believe what you read... I only point this out because of seller's statement "hard to find, correct, original example". I won't even mention the air cleaner, etc.

Ed, I know the sedans and hardtops had different upholstery & patterns, same with my Windsor, but did Mopar ever swap em around, like if they ran short or something? I know the hrdtp front seat had the step down in the seat back, but it'd be easy enough to substitute one for the other if they needed to at the factory... I can see this happening from time to time?

I can't say anything "for sure", because strange things happened at the factory, certainly. The normal seat pattern for a 4-door sedan, for example, should be codes 501, 502, or 503. That's ALL. My very OWN sedan, though, shows a factory cowl stamp code of 573. I think it should be a 513, but must be mis-stamped. I call the sedan pattern "chains", and THAT pattern is what was used in this 4-door hardtop (the green "chain" pattern is code 502). I don't know what the cowl stamp IS for this car, but I'd bet money it's 512, green cloth and vinyl. Here's what it SHOULD look like: http://1957desoto.150m.com/images/frontint_s25_intcode512.jpg

When I compare the interior to Ed's website, the broadcloth pattern seems to be oriented in the wrong direction too.
My Imperial had one interior trim piece of the wrong color, so who knows what could have happened at the factory... ?

Yes, that's also correct -- the seat material was sewn in 90 degrees off of what is correct. Here's a picture of the correct orientation for comparison.

Have a good look at the car , there is rust creep everywhere , and bondo , and bad paint . The car at a glance looks ok until you have a close look , its a total shocker . The buyer may be bitterly disappointed in this car I think .

Yes one picture of course lies more than thousand words but still....it looks pretty intact. Can you expect more than that for the money these days?
