I have a 1957 Dodge Royal D 500. I located a NOS Regulator. Is the part number below, correct for my car?

IPT 1889 944

EAT (VBO 42028C)

I would say that if you are going for a nit-pickable 100 point concours car, no. The 1889 944 is for a 59-60 Mopar not a 57

will it work just the same? Or should i continue to look for correct nos part. not a show car its a # 2 driver

If you are not going for a completely numbers matching No. 1+ car, then it will most likely (99% sure) work fine. The key requirements are 12V and three terminals (BATtery, FIELD and ARMature ). From what I can see from photos of 57 Dodge engine bays, all three of those terminals are on the left side of the regulator (like the one on my 56 Dodge).

If you aren't worried about that there are others out there for sale, like this one:
