Hey Everyone -

I'm looking for a 1957-60 and maybe later, driveshaft 'body' housing for the front U-joint (ball and trunnion). Part no. 1739920. This is the 4" diameter housing for torqueflite transmissions. Also need the kit (balls, needle bearings, boot, etc).

Thanks,

Ron

Have some used driveshafts posted in the "Parts For Sale" forum. Here is the link to post: http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=71995&...

Both are still available. Open to offers. Let me know if interested.

Negative on that. I need a NOS or NORS 'body' housing. No use for another driveshaft.

There’s someone on eBay selling an NOS one with that part number. Here’s the item number for it. 293375899131

Ack ! 165 (150 + shipping) is just too much for something that should be half that. This was used 1957 thru the early 60s. So there should be some out there at a reasonable price.

Negative on that Ron, that is always the price on those. I have been looking for these since I found that my Imperial came with it. Manage to purchased 3-4 for a reasonable price since 2008.

Well, then I guess you didn't look hard enough. There is no way that I will pay that. I'm certain that I will find one at a reasonable price.

There was a NOS (not repro) Kit for the 57+ V8s (all parts including hsg!) a couple of months ago, for BIN around 50 USD. I do not need one but thought about buying it anyway. I didn't and surprisingly it lasted quite a while on Ebay until it sold.

I bought a NOS MoPar # 2298 941 full kit, all included for $350 some weeks ago. My original ball & trunnion finally had too much vibrations after 60 years of duty, and 165000 miles. Hard to find that quality today

Super expensive. And you still need the kit for another 100+. Nope.

Ron, a good tight used one wouldn't deter me. If treated properly, they almost last forever. I'm really stressing mine (OE) for 30 years and it is still like new after 60+ years and over 330K miles, no vibration or noises. Use that clear synthetic Teflon "Super Lube" when you service it and it will outlive you.

That's great that yours is still good. Mine had wear and scoring. And I was getting vibration when first accelerating. So it needed to be replaced.

I located a NORS one as well as the kit. Waiting them to arrive so I can confirm that they are correct. Price was 85, including shipping. Kit was 80 with shipping.
