I won't name the vendor but you all know the company. Let's just say it isn't George Laurie (BTDT).

I recently ordered and paid for an item that I want, to be delivered to my mailbox in Blaine WA. I also bought a few other things on the same day, all from different vendors. My intent was, once they (the 4 items) all had arrived in Blaine WA, I was going to get the mailbox store owner to consolidate the 4 items into a single box and ship them across the border via UPS or Fedex. (I will be dinged brokerage fees and Canadian taxes plus freight costs).

The item in question was listed on the vendor's website as being "in stock" when I purchased the item on Nov. 12th (Friday). I emailed the vendor today to see if they had shipped or what (they had only sent a confirmation of the sale). Their reply was that the item was "2 to 4 weeks out". Hmm...

So I rechecked their website and it still says that the item in question is "in stock". So I emailed them and said
"No mention of "2 - 4 weeks out". Just "in stock". This kind of throws my schedule off."

(If I wait for the item in question, the parcel will be in the middle of the Christmas rush, which will complicate things. If I get the 3 out of the 4 items and get them shipped up without waiting for this 4th item, the 4th item will mean extra brokerage and shipping fees that I don't really want to pay).

The vendor replied "Well, we do what we can". Which I interpreted as "tough sh!t".

So now I have to make a decision. Ask for my money back and forego the very nice item or wait for it and incur the risk of everything being lost in the Christmas rush and/or potential unnecessary costs.

If the vendor's website had said "2 to 4 weeks" delivery up front, I probably would not have purchased the item. It is nice but not critical.

Yes, that is not fair, ... life is like that some times. I wonder if you were able to purchase that on eBay and then paid for with pay-pal (GST included) that the rules that eBay have would have prevented the deception and a quick resolution? Might cost more but lot less stress.

Interesting. Hm sounds to me like you received a canned email reply. Some think Epain is a vendor and we all know otherwise. No idea who ya bought stuff from however. I been ordering stuff and about the only I had a waiting for issue was Amazon. I tried to order a windage tray in March and yep it showed waiting to be back in stock. I reckon probably sitting out in ocean unfortunately. I got an email from Amazon in August they are cancelling the order due to time delay. I appreciate that. Reason I was willing to wait was because of you guess it the price. Had to bite the bullet and pay more from somewhere else.

A lot of times, I wouldn't trust 'in stock' on an item as actually being in stock. Not all websites update their pages in real time. For some, it's a manual process that gets put off if they are busy.

UPDATE: They don't know when they will have stock so I cancelled by order and have received a full refund. (I think)

I've asked to be informed if/when they have actual real stock again.

F Y I. When I buy anything on line, I always pay thru my Pay Pal account. The reason is that they (have for me) and can get a refund from a scammer by taking it out of their Pay Pal account. This is a great policy of theirs. Unlike eBay You can actually call them and a real person will answer and assist you with the refund procedure. Pay Pal customer service phone # is -- 1- 888-215-5506. "No, I'm not associated with Pay Pal, I just always try to recommend someone that has given' good service.
