Hello. This fall I bought a 58 Firedome, 2door HT from a junkyard. I'm guessing it entered basket-case status 20 years ago. One of the things it needs is a trunk lid. I'm seeing some 57 dodge trunk lids on ebay that look the same, but being new to these cars, I don't know. Does anyone know if the 57-58 Dodge trunk lids are the same as the 58 Desoto? Even if it would fit the opening, are there differences in where and how the latch mounts? Thanks for your help.

I think DeSoto and Chrysler are the same. Not sure about Dodge. '57 and '58 are the same as well for DeSoto and Chrysler.

They are different.

A 55 thru 58 Parts Book can answer this and a lot of other questions you may have. Otherwise, you'll be throwing away money on parts that don't fit or don't work on your car.

Agree. And it can be downloaded as a searchable pdf from Mymopar.com. I use it daily.

I just used it to find this (57-58 Dodge and Plymouth trunk lids are different but 57-58 Desoto and Chrysler trunk lids are the same, as others have suggested already):

According to the Superior Interchange, the '57-'58 Chrysler and the '57-'58 Desoto interchange.

Thank you very much for the replies! I will hang into that parts interchange link. That's exactly what I need.

I was just logging on to post that, had I looked REALLY close, I could have seen the difference between the Dodge and Desoto/Chrysler trunk lids. The Dodge is at roughly a 90 degree angle when going from horizontal to vertical. The Desoto/Chrysler, is sharper than 90 - maybe 95?? It actually starts to curve in on itself.

Have a good new year's, folks!
