| I am restoring a 1956 Dodge Custom Royal sedan. That is to say a body shop is doing the rust repairs for me. This car had already had "repairs" started when I bought it. A rust repair has now been re done on the rear window qtr panel ( I think that is what it is called). As this part of the car was covered in filler and primer when i bought it, I have know been asked by the repairer if this panel was left raw as it is now ( please see photo) when it left the factory or if it needs some lead to dress it up. As it is covered by a stainless trim piece i do not know what the factory finish was. Both sides have had the same issue so i have no reference point.Can anybody help with information or a photo?

Steve: Most (99.9%) of the "C" pillar area is covered by two stainless trim pieces.
The big piece tucks into the rubber rear window gasket plus one screw in the small hole at the bottom. (I'm not sure about what happens at the rain gutter).
The little piece has a push-in spring clip that goes through that big hole and there is one small screw in the door jamb where the trim folds around into the jamb.

Location: So. Cal | To answer your question: No, the factory didn't use lead filler there. They filled any gaps with a caulking material, probably the same caulking material that's used on the drip rails.
