Hi, my '58 Belvedere is sidelined yet again. This time it was for a transmission rebuild and now it looks like I need a driveshaft as well. Basically, the local driveshaft guy says the hole at the "pin" end has worn and is too loose for a rebuild. If anyone has a less worn example they are willing to part with I would be interested.

My car:

318 Poly with 3 speed Torqueflite

Why can't you have a machine shop bore out the hole true and then sleeve/bush it to the proper size?

I had considered that. There might be an issue with not very much metal around that pinion to be able to safely bore it out and sleeve it. I'm looking at a couple of options but the easiest would have been to just replace the driveshaft, if I could find one.
