I can't reckon on it being right, myself...

They were superseding Dodge, De Soto and Plymouth models and there is a suggestion that there would continue to have each make represented in the revised shape. Obviously they didn't, but to suggest that 'AP' was for 'Australian Plymouth' leads to the question 'what about De Soto and Dodge?' while it did apply to Chrysler.

That would appear to be a DeSoto parked in front of the New Yorker, Mr. Jim.

Two more, the second is labelled Indiana Dunes State Park.

I love the Cleveland Greyhound Station!! It's great that it hasn't changed very much. In Portland, Or, the Sears Store of the 1930's was art decco in white and was turn down to build I-84. The 7UP Bottler was just east of Sears and was art decco as well and it remains with Budweiser at the top of the short tower. Still pretty cool. Will try to get pics.

A fella from the Hamb sent me this, thought you guys might get a kick out of it.

"Time warp, about'57 or '58, check out Dad's cool look and Mom's Capri pants, genuine outfits for the '50's LOL..... the kid with the butch hair is me. I still look like that exept now Im shorter, fatter, and almost bald. Hope you get a laugh out of it, seriously, it was a great time to grow up, things were a lot simpler then."

They tell me Anselmo learned to drive in a Topolino...

So hauling this Mopar around must have felt like he was steering the Queen Mary!

And I'll bet that Sergio has survived better than the car... despite being fatter, shorter, more wrinkled and balder.

Thanks much for that beach pic!  It takes me back to the mid '60's when we used to drive over to Huntington Beach in Southern California and play in the sand and water.  Those were fun days for sure.

This was a hard to find. The street is now a pedestrian walkway, so is not possible to recreate the angle of the original picture, but some of the buildings (arrow and square) are still there.

In my mind, only one thing has gotten better in American life since 1957, and that is medical
technology. Otherwise, we could do just fine, or things have gone utterly in the tank with what
has happened since !

That pile of cars is really depressing. In the other hand the Deville hotel is now Luna hotel. Look at the tree in the walkway!

What's even more depressing is what they've turned them into at the Luna Hotel,I thought it was in Japan until I spotted a Volkswagen Golf and then knew it had to be in the USA.

OK, I'll bite. What is that car Montgomery Clift is leaning on there ? It is a wagon with NO side trim, NO Dodge
saddle fin, yet it has the senior model door handles, and painted steel door window frames !

Is it some non-production car or a fleet series special ?

Am I having a senior moment ?

It's a bare bones Windsor wagon, from what I remember when I last saw the movie.

What is similar about this car's paint job????

And, that Windsor-wagon, despite showing no rust (NV car) or body damage/deterioration
has a decidedly non-shiny paint job---probably so that it would not reflect the images of
the on-location film crew/lighting, in the background.

The movie that Montgomery Clift was in with Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable (Gable's last movie I believe) is "The Misfits" as identified on the cut-line. I haven't seen the movie in years so I can't say if the car is a Chrysler Windsor SW or not, but the odds seem to favor it.

It's a white wagon, and it appears prominently in a lot of scenes.

1958 Dodge Regent at Old Tucson near Tucson, Arizona

At first glance, I thought it was a 1958 Plymouth, but now that I've been able to take a closer look, I noticed it's a Plodge.

Does anybody know what car the third from the left is? Looks very much like a Chrsler to me...

d500Neil,

In photos and films, they use "dulling spray" to reduce glare exactly as you surmised.
Look closely at cars in film and you can see many examples of its usage. Directors often
had their crew remove trim items, too; maybe they wanted a "strippo-look" wagon and
purposely de-trimmed the Windsor, then repainted it in a duller hue.

This link is from the Movie Car Database...

Hi Jim!

Regent is a model name for Canada and that Dodge is not a Regent, it's a Kingsway probably from Mexico (the photo was taken in Arizona, pretty far from Canada).

Two ways to tell it's not a Canadian car: there's bumper wing guards on the bumper, an option not available in Canada and there's no trunk handle, which was standard in Canada.

By the way, did you receive the two emails I sent you regarding some cars that were not correctly identified on your site?

More salt to a wound.. I counted six FL Mopars in this pile. Good parts left (no enough demand left then). That car in 3rd row from the bottom between Pontiacs look like '62 Chrysler, but the rear bumper guards indicate it was a '62 Dodge Custom 880?
