Location: Parts Unknown | Ray's Auto Wrecking in Everett, Wa. looked like that well into the 1990's. Not quite that deep .... 4, maybe 5 cars high ? I went by there last winter to see if he was still there - I wanted the trim tags off a 58 Plaza - and there is no sign the place ever existed ! Buried under an avalanche of tract homes.

Expert Posts: 3480 Location: Montreal, Canada | Highball57 - 2010-09-25 9:11 AM And, that Windsor-wagon, despite showing no rust (NV car) or body damage/deterioration has a decidedly non-shiny paint job---probably so that it would not reflect the images of the on-location film crew/lighting, in the background. d500Neil, In photos and films, they use "dulling spray" to reduce glare exactly as you surmised. Look closely at cars in film and you can see many examples of its usage. Directors often had their crew remove trim items, too; maybe they wanted a "strippo-look" wagon and purposely de-trimmed the Windsor, then repainted it in a duller hue. This link is from the Movie Car Database... TG I thought the Windsor was intended to be produced without trims on the side, as this pre-production picture shows (from the 1956 ChryCo Annual report): (AR5612sid10S.jpg) Attachments ---------------- AR5612sid10S.jpg (250KB - 308 downloads)

I did, but did not yet take the time to 'reconsider' (LOL!). Reason I did think it is a Regent is because of the paint patern on the rear quarter, as far as it can be seen. The Regent has it low, before the wheel well. Could it's region of origin maybe be seen b y it's license plate (color)?

Expert Posts: 3480 Location: Montreal, Canada | Kingsways came in all the same trim than Plymouths, depending on their level of trim: Custom or Deluxe... The Deluxe had the lower, Savoy trim that we see on this mexican 1958 one in Arizona. In the FL era, the Kingsway name was not used in Canada, and the Crusader/Regent/Mayfair (Viscount for 1959) were the Canadian models. I took my first airline flight during the winter of 1971 aboard Eastern (The Wings Of Man they used to advertise) to Tampa, Florida to see my grandparents. I was 11 but wasn't aware of the fact that Florida had a warmer climate that didn't include snow. Needless to say, I was utterly amazed when we stepped off the airplane that day! Then there was the overhead train that ran from the terminal to the parking garage... Edited by djMikulec 2010-09-30 12:47 PM

The Chrysler custom pictured above was featured in a 4-page article in the October 1958 issue of Motor Life magazine. The car also appeared on the cover of the mag. Here are some facts from the article: The car was commissioned by Harry Dundore of Baltimore, Maryland, and built by Gordon Vann of Berkeley, California. The car's styling was inspired by a single side view of a Ghia design. A Chrysler 300C chassis was used, and lowered 5 inches. Most of the body was fabricated from aluminum. '57 Plymouth convertible doors were used, but re-skinned. The back glass was a '57 Plymouth windshield turned upside down. Taillights were '54 Mercury. Moldings around the grille and headlights were formed from copper and chrome plated. The interior had four bucket seats upholstered in white leather. Stewart-Warner gages were used on the dash. Expert Posts: 2473 Location: Dalveen, Queensland, Australia | Regarding those racing Sporty Cars posted by SavoyPlaza, the blue one on this page carrying No 12 is a Maserati 250, raced by Connell, it's pictured at Montgomery. I'm fairly sure that this would have been a 4-cylinder 2.5-litre car of about 1956/7. The other one, back a page, is a Lister Bristol. Listers were built in Britain and many used Jaguar engines, but some had the 2-litre Bristol six that came from BMW's pre-war 328. I was fooled into thinking it was a V8-engined Lister, but the Bristol engine had three carburettors sitting atop the six (inlet ports right in the middle of the top of the head!) and had the exhausts on the right. Driver was Bob Colombosian, it's taken at Thompson Raceway. The photos are apparently by Dave Nicholas and are at a site called barcboys.com

Have any here that pic from the book or ather pics and history abouth X-3 Joakim, now you have got me curious about the Windsor X-3! Maybe this topic should have its own thread? Here is a description from the October 1958 issue of Popular Science magazine (page 119): "Chrysler makes news with a fourth model-- the Windsor X-3, to be made in red and white or red and black two-tone bodies only. This has a high-performance 383-cu.in. engine with two four-barrel carbs." The October 1991 issue of Collectible Automobile contained a history of the 1957-1959 Chryslers. Regarding the '59 models, author Richard Langworth wrote: "Planned, but hastily withdrawn, were a 300-like Windsor 'X3' convertible and hardtop coupe with deluxe interiors and 350 bhp (the idea would resurface in 1962's 'non-letter' 300 series)..." Sorry, I cannot find a photo of the X-3. Any photos of the X-3 would presumably be of a prototype, since the model did not go into production.
