Regarding the 1955 Desoto above

Ohio State University finished 9-0 during the 1954 season beating 5 top 20 teams including archrival Michigan and was headed to the Rose Bowl

Desoto dealer Willard Karl provided 20 brand new Desotos painted gray and red (sic) for the team

The co-eds were welcomed

That California front license plate surround does say Willard Karl Pasadena. That lead me to search Willard Karl

WILLARD KARL MOTORS of PASADENA, 316 WEST COLORADO Blvd., PASADENA, Calif.

Which lead to this:

"Mrs. America poses with a 1950s-era automobile at 2903 East Orange Grove Boulevard. According to the 1955 Pasadena City Directory, the owners of that residence were Robert E. and Zoe Sahm. We believe the woman in the photo may be the 1949 Mrs. America winner, Frances L. Cloyd, of San Diego. The image was taken on March 30, 1955, for Karl Willard Motors Inc., which was located at 316 West Colorado Boulevard. "

Not sure if there is a tire issue or a photo issue. The Cadillac in the background (near the front of the Plymouth) also has some tire "issues" and its just parked. Therefore I suspect there is more of a photo pixelation issue.

I would say snow tires. The "lumps" are evenly spaced if you look very closely at the rear tire. You can even see the tread on the the tire facing forward. Grew up on the Canadian prairies where snow tires were considered mandatory in the winter. They used sand on the roads but no salt as salt won't work below -20C.

Was the grill emblem transplanted on that SS '58 Dodge convertible? I had thought that the emblem only came on Regal Lancers.

No, Custom Royals also used same emblem. Usually Regals got red ones, Custom Royals got black.

Dave Jolly, a pitcher on the World Series Championship Milwaukee Braves, leaning against a 1958 Dodge convertible in the parking lot of old County Stadium in Milwaukee. I reckon this is a publicity shot for the Braves around 1957 right after wining the series.

Yeah. I know it's there. That's where I got the picture to repost. I was pointing out the fact that it was taken in my hometown of Milwaukee and the subject was one of the players of my Milwaukee Braves team.

I wish I could see the license plates on the cars in this photo (posted above). I knew it was in Canada because of the 55 (or 56) Dodge Mayfair 2dr V8 hardtop (looks similar to my high school 55 Dodge 4dr). But then on second glance, I see Zeller's (Canadian low end department store) as well as Tamblyn Drugs (likely only Canada), Agnew Surpass (shoes - pretty sure Canadian), FW Woolworth's (but that was Canada and the US) and the first letters of Reitman's (a women's clothing store - definitely Canadian). It immediately reminded me of the first "Golden Mile" mall in Regina, Saskatchewan back in the day, but Bill might say it reminds him of Polo Park Mall in Winnipeg Manitoba too. Likely somewhere in Ontario now that I look at all the numbers on the plates.

Likely somewhere in Ontario now that I look at all the numbers on the plates.

interesting. and what is that 54(?) ford in the foreground? some kustom thing? that sidetrim looks weird and not very straight.

Not sure. Canada had subtly different models of Ford in that period. We also had Mercury Meteors that were Ford-based. Very similar to the way we got Dodges that were really Plymouths except for the Dodge front clip.

Naw, it looks more like someone put '55 Fairlane fender and side moldings on a '54 or earlier model.

Obviously an artist's/designer's rendering that would not get past engineering (too much glass going to high into the roof).

It looks like she's standing beside the car.....an uneducated guess would be the material draping over the quarter and down the trunk lid is interior cloth that they are showing for a promotional.......a bit of a mute exercise in black and white methinks.....
