Expert Posts: 1287 | Denis -- That thing the lady has is called a "camera" and they were quite in vogue in 1960. I find that '60 Bonneville vert more interesting even though it doesn't have the aluminum 8-bolt wheels. The '60s were some of the best looking Ponchos and the smaller Catalinas and Venturas were deadly on track and strip when Smokey Yunick and Jim Wangers got their hands on them, especially the 363-horse Super Duty jobs. I never had the opportunity to tangle with one, but while the regular 345HP/389s (three deuces and 4-speeds and all) did pose a threat to my old SonoRamic, they were only that: a threat. Neat pic with the Olds and the Rambler as well. Joe Godec Edited by Sonoramic60 2018-02-27 9:24 PM

Expert Posts: 2473 Location: Dalveen, Queensland, Australia | One of today's biggest problems is that people think telephones are cameras... This particular camera looks like one of those (common in the day) fixed-lens 35mm jobs, although the leather case suggests something more like a more advanced type of 126 camera, a Leica or Rollei (sp?). Photography was changing just as the cars were changing. And, of course, this thread is totally reflective of the interest some took in photography at that time.

I think it might be a medium format TLR camera judging by the shiny part at the top which appears to be a reflection off the viewfinder. TLR's are very interesting cameras to use as the viewfinder shows everything as a mirror image (reversed) and most of the time to use it, you have to hold it at waist level and look down.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9898 Location: Lower Mainland BC | That dual purpose 61 Chrysler Ambulance/Hearse is hilarious. If they pick you up in the Ambulance and you die along the way, do they convert it mid-drive to a Hearse on the way to the funeral home? Expert 5K+ Posts: 9898 Location: Lower Mainland BC | hemidenis - 2018-03-08 6:37 PM show The Showboat Pavillion/Theatre, Texas City Texas. Still going. (Sort of) "The Showboat Pavilion, located at 416 6th St. N., was constructed in 2001-2002 (Bernard, 2001b) on the site of the old Showboat Theater, which was torn down in 2000 (City of Texas City, 2002). The grand opening of the new facility was on April 12, 2002 (Clements, 2002). The Showboat Theater, a Texas City landmark that was damaged and rebuilt several times during the period of 1942 to 1949, was known for its neon tower, which lit up what was then the downtown district of Texas City. The new Showboat Pavilion's facade is similar to the previous building, including a replica of the tower, although without the neon lighting. The original tower was covered in green glass, and some of this was recycled to cover one of the new buildings' inner walls (Galindo, Hubert, Kessler, and Morales, 2002)."
