That's a sight I haven't seen in a while--perhaps I'm just in a rural area that is not conducive to bicycles. Anyways, let's just ask the man with the star! Pete ================================= My friends and I walked and rode our bicycles EVERYWHERE when we were kids. One trip took us to Fall City, another to Carnation. Years later, I'd drive the same routes and discovered it is 45 miles to either ! 90 miles (round trip) in a single day on a Schwinn Stingray ! I still have mine, as well as my skateboard !

That is what you never see today. Today the bikes would be chained up to something that cannot be moved.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9667 Location: So. Cal | I rode my bicycle a lot as a kid too, and one of the motivations was to spend my newly acquired money from birthdays or doing odd jobs at the little general store that sold quite a bit of candy. In the old days, the pharmacy was a candy store & soda shop, so seeing bicycles next to it makes perfect sense to me.

Quite sensibly building a client base for the future, right? I didn't ride too far afield, usually not more than five or six miles, but my younger brothers astounded me when they told my of their treks across the suburbs of Sydney.

Member Posts: 13 Location: Michigan, USA | That picture a few posts above, was a Drug/Pharmacy Store that wasn't too far from my childhood home. As kids, we rode our bikes all over the place, and as a Baby Boomer, we never thought Once, let alone Twice about leaving our bikes un-attended for hours, or even longer. It was a whole different world back then. I don't EVER remember even locking our homes doors back then. Ah...The Good Ole Days!!!

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9904 Location: Lower Mainland BC | I'll bet Leave to Beaver is a gold mine of old Chrysler product photos. While I was looking for something else, just now, I found this (below). Pretty handy. You could pick up a patient and drive them to the hospital but if they didn't make it (died), then you could just make a conversion on the fly and drive the deceased to the funeral home. Board Moderator & Exner Expert 10K+ Posts: 13049 Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island | That's what I first thougt as well Sid - its actually a '58 New Yorker, check the hub caps and the louvers on the rear fender. The shape of the A-pillar is another hint. Very difficult to see, but I think it's a 2-DHT The car is distorted by the Chevy 55 reflection and perhaps another Chevy 55 in the window. 1960fury - 2019-03-15 1:58 AM Can someone make out what type of car is on the showroom floor?
