Expert 5K+ Posts: 9904 Location: Lower Mainland BC | . Sometimes I see people advertising 56 Dodge D500s as the car that set the records at Bonneville. Whatever their motive, that is not true. The tests were done in the fall of 1955, well before the December 22 1955 announcement of the D500 option. This advert from the Dec. 1955 issue of Mechanix Illustrated had to be set up for printing well before Dec. (probably Oct. 1955). SO there is that and perhaps more importantly, the mention of the 230 hp engine. Er...that is the Power Pack (4 bbl dual exhaust) 315 Poly option, not the 260 D500 hemi. Just sayin' (MechanixIllustratedDec55_56Dodge_Bonneville.jpg) Attachments ---------------- MechanixIllustratedDec55_56Dodge_Bonneville.jpg (239KB - 451 downloads)

Expert 5K+ Posts: 7400 Location: northern germany | In this case FL stands for "Funland" and the picture war allegedly taken in 1960, but since there are no newer than 59 models, I guess it is 1959, or late 58.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 7400 Location: northern germany | I'm glad there is a 56 Desoto in the background, so I can post this beautiful 59 Olds 4dht space ship. The 59 GM 4d ht design goes very well with the 59 Olds and Chevy bodys but looks just terrible on a 59 Cadillac, imo. Here is a bigger version (that I can't download): https://www.flickr.com/photos/mss2400/34495940240 and if you click on the arrows there are a couple of FLs too, like this wonderful picture with 49 star flags. https://www.flickr.com/photos/mss2400/34113872023/in/photostream/ Edited by 1960fury 2019-10-24 3:22 PM (56desoto.jpg) Attachments ---------------- 56desoto.jpg (55KB - 347 downloads)

Sometimes, they won't let you even right click or save the site in any way, so you have to use PrintScreen in those cases. Expert 5K+ Posts: 7400 Location: northern germany | Well its got a truck mirror, like on the Dodge trucks pictured and the rear window has the same shape. Couple of things appear odd, like the shadow on the hood, but it seems to have a 5 letter name on the hood (3 letters visible) so its gotta be a truck (mirror) and very likely a Dodge. Should be a labeled as a 59pcvt Yes, I can tell a 56 and a 58 apart, but just pressed the wrong button. And I'm pretty sure you know the difference between a 58 and 59 too Plain side trim and no whitewalls and picture taken when the car was pretty new, very unusual for a convertible.
