The coupe version (permanent roof) was called the Plein Ciel while the convertible version was Oceane. The two models were on the market by October, 1957, and were dropped late 1961.

The Ford Vedette, the second generation introduced in 1955, was restyled in late 1957, adopting side two tone trim, small fins on the rear fenders, wraparound windshield, and headlamp rims similar to the 1956 Dodge Custom Royal. Ford basically took the 1955 Ford-styled Vedette and turned it into a 1956 Dodge-styled Vedette (Beaulieu). The last Beaulieu was built in October, 1960.

Ford acquired a 15.2% interest (stocks) in Simca on July 31, 1958. In return, Simca acquired Ford's French factories, foundry and the Vedette line of cars, including the 2.3-litre flathead V8 engine. Chrysler acquired Ford's interest in Simca on August 01, 1958. On September 04, 1958, Chrysler acquired a further 10% interest in Simca. By 1963 Chrysler owned about 33% and had total control of Simca by 1970, when Simca became Chrysler France.

And eventually fitted Ardun heads to the Ford V8 and stretched it to 2.5 litres, at the same time taking the porting out of the block.

318 poly, 2bbl, Red Ram, 230 hp, 340 lb-ft (Dart only)
361 2bbl Super Red Ram 295 hp 390 lb-ft

3. 1961 Chrysler Enforcer:

383 8bbl Dodge D-500 Ram Induction, 330 hp, 460 lb-ft

"America's hottest cop car in 1961"

16.9 sec, 86 mph, 1/4 mile, 131 mph top speed.

Not really. They were doggy off the line but pulled hard toward the end of the
quarter mile. My ‘56 Fury turned the quarter in the low 16’s with its 303 and
a three speed manual in G/S.

Car Life touted that the specs of the Chrysler  Enforcer were 1962 specs and bragged that this was to all intents and purposes, the first road test of a 1962 model. I wonder when the test drive was taken as the car is obviouslly last year's model (1961) and the testers hinted that they could not divulge the styling lines of the 1962s yet (but surely by October 1961, which is when the article appeared, the public had some idea of what the new 1962 cars would look like.)

Location: christchurch New Zealand		That photo must have been taken in the 70/80s. A friend of mine owned it for a very long time, that photo would have been at Lyttelton, CHCH,NZ where he worked on the wharves. I purchased the car off him some time later , it has since changed hands a couple of times and i believe it is still in the lower South Island and being done up. The SW was extremely rusty and my understanding is that it originally came out from London ,England to NZ in its early life.

I would guess it's something to do with slippage in the torque converter...

Or the stall of the converter. I don't know about these things, I stick to manuals.

Location: Alaska		Ray, i believe the answer to your question about the gear ratio is 2.45 is the actual gear ratio of first gear and 2.2 is the torque multiplication of the torque converter. I am just guessing because I've never seen the torque listed as a gear ratio.

Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island		Yes Doc, The Ford Anglia got that name in Sweden. The cat skull is the Austin A30 and the toads is probably one 60 and one 62 Valiant.
I think I see a "Saturdays off" as well, that's the Anglia with the slanted rear window. It got the name due to the slanted rear window - there was no time to finish it properly due in a working week.

Back when I was young, seeing any of those would almost make me throw up....
Nowadays, seeing the new modern cars, those pityful excauses for cars actually grows on me......

Location: Dalveen, Queensland, Australia		The A30 with a bigger back window and painted grille, along with an increase from 803cc to 948cc, continued as the A35 until 1959.

Replaced by the Mini, I guess.

Found these "snaps" in an old folder this AM.

My family on holiday in our "new" (1 year old) 1955 Dodge Regent 6 cyl/3 on the tree, in Banff Alberta, May 1956 and then Montana in early July 1956. I'm the shortest person (5 years old). That car became my first car in 1967 when I turned 16. I learned to drive it as soon as I could reach the pedals (about 12 or 13).

The A35 was replaced by the A40 Farina. Same engine but 4" more wheelbase. Last A40 Farina was built in 1968.

The A30/A35 shared axle dimensions with the Austin-Healey Sprite and MG Midget, the A40 rear axle was unique and wider than the A30, but not as wide as the Morris Minor/Wolseley 1500 rear axle. The Farina A40 was mechanically identical to the Morris Minor 1000 otherwise, 948cc, 4-speed floor change, 4.555:1 rear end, though it had 13" wheels while the Morris had 14". One other difference was the carburetion, the Morris using the SU while the Farina A40 (like the A30/A35 IIRC) having a Zenith.

The wheel size/axle ratio setup was strange, really, as the 803cc Morris Minor compared to the A30 with the same engine had a 5.375:1 rear end while the A30 went with a 5.125:1, which changed to a 4.875:1 at some stage while the 803cc Minor never changed.
