It hurts, that little brats need to learn respect the hard way. Bet none of them ever created something worthwile, like that 57 Windsor hardtop. Yes, I was a kid too, and a wild one with some issues, but never enjoyed destruction. ****** little *******

Does putting on Hedman Hedders or blowing freeze plugs and the heater core (revved it too high with those 4.10 gears) count as needless destruction? Considering everything, that Windsor doesn't look that much worse than my first '60 Fury did by 1964!

A bloke I know has a kid with ADHD...

He put an old car down in his backyard, when the kid's out of control he's sent out with a hammer to see what he can do to it. It calms him down.

Joe, no, unless you did the damage intentionaly and tuning is not vandalism. You know I drive my 60 hard. There is a roadrace almost every night in summers, Anything can happen. I service it they way it should be done and treat it good but rev it regularly to 6k. It was build for that, it was build for fun and I consider it a sacrilege not to take advantage of the 6.3 liters.

That beautiful Chrysler wasn't build to be needlessly destroyed by vandals. I do believe, people who enjoy vandalism or destroying things, regardless of age, have a mental disease and should be under custody.

Funny you mentioned the freeze plug, one of my Furys OE plugs started leaking badly yesterday for the first time in almost 62 years! It is the one behind the drivers side motor mount.

The kids in Harlem are no different than the same picture taken today with a 10-15 year old Chrysler 300. At that time, it was just another old car with little value. Do you go hunting for 10-15 year old cars now? I doubt it very seriously. We cringe now because the car in the photo is over 50 years old and considered a classic or antique. When the photo was taken, it was just an old car that seems to be not running and the closest thing those kids likely had to a playground.

Read my post, it is not about that FL, I hate vandalism of any kind. When I was a kid, the ugliest cars were on the road (that are now considered classics too) back then already I thought they are ugly but never ever I had the urge to destroy or damage these things, or windows, old houses, etc. In my opinion people who get a kick out of senseless distruction, breaking glass, spraying walls, etc are mentally ill and nee to be under custody and those who defend that kind of behavior too.
And you aren't really comparing millenial cars with 1950s cars? If you can't see a difference, then....

Those plugs back then just didn't leak, on two occasions they just plain blew out! Fortunately, neither happened while at a drag strip but just at a couple of what the gendarmerie termed "Speed Contests." I had to stuff shop rags into the holes to limp home. That hot rodding didn't do the heater core any good either although it didn't give way during a Stop Light Grand Prix but rather once when a girl happened to have her legs under it. Hot antifreeze doesn't do nylons much good.

Joe, probably the heater valve, as it is very unlikely that the heater core, mounted outside of the firewall, leaks into the passenger compartment. Never had any trouble with heater cores or "freeze"-plugs in my life with any of my FLs, untill 2 days ago, when one plug started leaking badly when I came home one night, too tired to do anything about it and expected the cooling system to be empty the next day, but it stopped and once I wiped off the stalactites around the plug, it appeared like new, I'm now uncertain what to do, just add stop-leak or replace the plug? In that location the regular way is impossible, have to fabricate a screw in type plug But I'm always very reluctant to replace something OE on my sacred Fury :C

Windsor, Ontario

The car on the left is a Custom Royal and has been pulled off the assembly line. Also note the "spuds" on the front bumper below the headlamps. In Canada the "spuds" were standard on all Custom Royal models.

At least that is what I presume is happening, using those lovely damsels sitting at the waters edge to lure the gators out of the water.

Really curious about the date abd location of the Modern Motors pic. I just found out that was the name of my grandfather's first dealership.

Okay. Which sub-forum is for NEW(ish) pictures and postcards?

Anyway, I probably can't edit the posting due to the forum protocols.

Just tried to delete my post but:

Sid --
I don't think it was taken when the cars were new.
The skirt's (or perhaps the "Skort") too short, the heels aren't spikes, and she's wearing pantyhose not stockings.
Those were my salad days and it was interesting washing car windows at my dad's gas station or watching girls get into cars.

It is probably late summer 1957. The movie «3:10 to Yuma», that script showing on the billboard at the right, released at August 7, 1957…

Wow. I wonder whether these two cars are indeed the same car, separated by 60 plus years:

1959 Pontiac - 1st year for the split grille. 1960 went to a one piece grille - similar to the 1961 Dodge Lancer - and then back to a split grille theme for the next decade.
