Regular Posts: 88 Location: Puyallup, Washington | Doctor DeSoto - 2010-12-07 1:49 PM BTW - what is the car behind the Pontiac to the far right at Gaedes above ? That roof is crazy long and flat with those opposing doglegs ..... ???? That car would be a Rambler -- probably a Classic or Ambassador series car. This roofline was used from the late-1950's through 1962. Here's one of the rarely seen (but quite attractive) 1961 Ambassadors: Edited by Centurion 2010-12-07 2:57 PM

Location: Parts Unknown | "Tree lawn" ? I've never heard that term before. Is there any explanation for it ? We call that a "parking strip" in Spokanistan, but that hardly means it is the only name for that green strip between the street and the sidewalk (which doesn't look to green in this shot!).

Not to be confused with a street called Boulevard - usually a wide divided roadwide with green strips down the centre of the street as well as along the sidewalks. The boulevards along the sides of the streets are used in the winter to dump the snow plowed off the streets and sidewalks.

Location: Parts Unknown | D500Jim - 2010-12-12 7:22 AM This must have been a tuff town! Truth-or-Consequences (DeSoto ForwardLook postcards) *************************************************** Truth or Consequences is a spa city in and the county seat of Sierra County, New Mexico, United States.[1] As of the 2000 census, the population was 7,289. It is commonly known within New Mexico as T or C. Originally named Hot Springs, the city changed its name to Truth or Consequences, the title of a popular NBC radio program. In 1950, Ralph Edwards, the host of the radio quiz show Truth or Consequences, announced that he would air the program from the first town that renamed itself after the show. Hot Springs won the honor. Edwards visited the town during the first weekend of May for the next fifty years. This event was called "Fiesta" and included a beauty contest, a parade, and a stage show. The city still celebrates Fiesta each year on the first weekend of May. The parade generally features area celebrities such as the Hatch Chile Queen. Fiesta also features a dance in Ralph Edwards Park.
