That's a Dome or Sweep ..... note the small back glass.

Also note the not-often-seen single rear antenna located by the right leading corner of the decklid.

There's also another photo of Ex, above here, where he's seen with both hands in his pants, playing pocket-pool,
apparently!

I've always thought the the Imperial should have been positioned dead-center in the photo, with the PLY parked
over on the far right side, so, you'd have the tall lights of the PLY/CHRY opposite to the individual lights of the DOD/DeS
and with the IMP's divided bumper, sloping trunk, and individual lamps accenting both sides' cars.

Guess I gotta go send Jim a photo of my GF, sitting on the yellow/black CRL, above here.

Note that it appears to have clear plastic seat covers installed on it, too.

I've got an 11"x14" enlargement of that photo---terrific resolution-detail.

I'd thought that I'd bought/won that photo (still do, in fact...), but, maybe my digital enlargement came
off of the evil-pay screen image of it.

Looked for the original photograph last night, but can't find it, so, maybe, I bootlegged it off of a high-resolution
screen image, and sent the image to my local film processor, to do his digital magic on it.

It's a great 'photo' enlargement.

Jim,

You are WAY off on that one.

58 DeSoto Firedome or Firesweep 2HT in what looks like a monotone or similar light colors.

Again, note Chrysler-DeSoto junior model low-back roof/glass. DeSoto had the bumper tip
exhaust ports, oval in 57, "pinched" in 58. Look at the enlargement and you can even make
out the pinched exhaust ports.

This one is on eBay now, with a 1961 Plymouth Wagon (Adriana?!) and a 1959 Desoto Adventurer!

I had my doubts about this one (still learning...) and see that it is NOT a Fury.

But I would swear it is a 1957 Plymouth, looking at the back lights. Or is it an export model, something like a a PlyMoto/DeMouth?

I'll correct it on the postcard website (not here, elseway the discussion could look silly!).

DeSoto is a Firedome. Note skinny upper side trim bar.

Fireflite is about 3x as fat from the fender/door seam on back.

There is a guy in the Colorado region with one in just these colors.

vedette - 2010-12-07 9:09 PM 1960 Chrysler New Yorker 4 door hardtop Ex London Embassy car ,at this time all Embassies used top of the line US cars and had licence plates like USA 1.This car still survives and is in Slough but now needs restored and the owner may sell it including QK 1.

I found something with a similar plate, in my 'archive'

Yes,all American cars registered in London were issued with short licence plate numbers (British cars usually had 6 digits)because the people in the registration office knew US cars had a smaller licence plate area. This Right Hand Drive 1960 Polara must be a rare bird,I've seen plenty Dart/DeSoto Diplomat right hookers, but never a senior Dodge, here's a rhd '55.

Gonna vote Fireflite on that one. See what looks like the "V" emblem crossing the side trim
just ahead of the driver's door ? Also the fender top ornaments that were standard to Fireflite.
I took my honeymoon in Seaside in 1985. That little roundabout was still there, but I only saw
MY DeSoto there.

The turnaround is there but a monument of the Lewis & Clark Exposition is now in the center. Just on the southside of this end of the street is now a 4 story timeshare building. It took away alot of the charm at this location. They still have bumper cars and The Whip inside just down the street. Elephant ears are still sold. The beach is still great. Some parts will never change. Its still pretty cool.

Whoo-haw! Love the '58 with blackwalls, that's a neat card!

A couple more photos, the first has the following description:

"Date: 03-06-1956
Photo series of Eric O. Brown, district manager for the Pacific Telegraph and Telephone Co. The Brown family prepares to depart on a fishing trip. Mr. Brown loads the Evinrude outboard into the family station wagon, while his wife Dorothy and son and daughter prepare to stow the net, rod and tackle box. The Brown's modern English home was constructed in 1927 and designed by Heath, Gove and Bell, Architects."

The second photo's origin is unknown.

That would appear to be a '58 by the look of the hood emblem, Jim.

This photo doesn't really feature an FL, but being a '62 Plymouth owner, I just think it's a really cool photo.

Definitely a 58. The quad headlights, matching direction grille bars, and hood ornament
(57 had P-L-Y-M-O-U-T-H letters) are dead giveaways. Also, the Sport Suburban had the
side trim kick-up like the Fury and Belvedere, so this is a more basic model.

The 62 Pontiac convertible is nice too !

Is that a white 68 Dodge Coronet convertible in the very back against the building ???? That's a rare one !

I really thought it matched the 1957 given as an example by Plymouth Central, which I oftren use for reference.

But now I also see it lacks the front fender "V".

So, I'll correct it to a 1958 Plymouth Custom Suburban (Plymouth Central ).

The 'V' on the fender indicates a V-8, as opposed to the flathead six.

Here are a few more. These aren't postcards though; they are from a private photo collection that was shared on the Hamb. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=542628

I'll go ahead and try to identify the cars.

'59 Saratoga coupe

'56 300B, with its engine photographed separately in the second image. Interesting that this car is already showing some rust issues in the rockers. The year is about 1962, and the '55-56 cars were not known for being rustbuckets like the '57-59 cars were, especially in the arid climate of SoCal or AZ where the picture was taken.

You'd say it was the same car as the above, same photographer..., but it's not.
And Florida is a long ride from Oregon.

" ..I like the 1959 (Dodge) Fender Ornaments above..."

*****************************************************

Is it just me, or do those ladies appear to be enormous ? Or is the Dodge 3/4 scale ???

Either way, excellent trim option ! :)

Ah Doc, you really have a way with words. What girl wouldn't want to be described as enormous? lol

The white hood is the proof this is really the photographer's car.

It's a 1958, though, not a '57.
