I thought the boy scouts looked forward to going to camp. What a fantastic picture. I looked forward to camp as a scout.

Maybe his family made him ride in the trunk.

Bummer we can't see a posted gasoline price at that station (for Regular grade gas, almost certainly).

Whatever it was, we can multiply it by a factor of 10, and then apply a MPG consumption rate of 10(max), for City driving,
and realize that the price of gas, today, for daily driving, at 20+++ MPG is a bargain by comparison.

I sure hope that 57 Plymouth is pulling off the road for gas. Otherwise, it has a

Jim, is there any way you can make the zoom feature focus on the entire photo, ....
... move the cursor to any point of interest ? There are often other things in these photos
I'd like to zoom in on besides the one Mopar. Thanks.

That can be done and a I tried. But it doesn't work here, on the forward look website.

When you follow the provided link and go all the way through to the Panoramio version, you can zoom in there using your web browsers feature by pressing the "CTRL" and "+" keys simultaneously.

This might be that photographer's DeSoto again...
But we can't see the white hood, and the license plate white (instead of yellow),
plus it's in New Mexico while the others are in California...

You can see a side by side comparison of how much a '58 Chevy and a '58 Cadillac resembled one another. Same thing was true in 1971.

Ernie, those family photos are fantastic! The '55 Dodge wagon photo is a classic! Would you happen to be one of the young-uns in the picture?

Jim, that photographer sure must have been proud of his DeSoto to work it into his pictures, and rightly so.

Hemidave, thanks for posting those pictures!! They are GREAT!
First time I see canadian "plodges" on transport like that! Superb!

It's also interesting to note that these canadian-made cars travelled through the USA to be delivered to the western provinces (the photos were taken in Erskine, Minnesota). Also interesting to see the argent or eggshell painted wheels. Never knew for sure if canadian cars had them painted like that too.

Fascinating stuff!

Here are the larger versions + one more:

Soiouz, glad you enjoyed the pics. When I first tried to attach them, I was told they needed to be resized, so I shrunk one, but then the other larger one went through, go figure. I'll have to go back to the test area to try to post multiple pics on a singe post.

Sorry there's no exact Google Street View showing the intersection. The Western Auto is now Albert's Loan Office.

Here's one near it.
