Jim's photo; the last one on page 59(!) of this thread happens to be a duplicate of the very FIRST photo that was posted
on this thread.

Also, the "totaled Imperial", also seen on page 59, is seen in a couple different views of it, in the same accident, earlier
in this thread.

Remember, my post was a question...

However, it was also asked by someone in a different part of the world. A house like that would have been from the sixties here, judging by the windows etc, and it doesn't look all that new to me. The cars also look to me like they've been at the very least highly 'detailed', possibly restored. But I could well be wrong.

Anyway, it was a question, not a statement. I do tend to think, however, that a pic from the seventies is getting to be a 'new' photo in relation to this thread. As you have said, by the seventies the finned cars were well and truly thinning out.

Thanks for the info. I've noticed a few other photos were posted twice as well.

It was unintentional on my part and it has been corrected. The photo was not "taken" from this thread, but was found on another website. I should have looked back over the thread more carefully. Again, thanks for your diligence in keeping me honest.

The "Madras Oregon" picture i think is very significant; they are at least 3 FL cars on the street but also include a Chrysler dealer with a 1972-84 logo in it. The Plymouth is at least 14 years old there.

By no means were all Zephyrs 2-tone...

Yes, that's an Anglia and I can't for the life of me see an Austin or Morris in there!

It was just the Mk1 Zephyr-Zodiac that was two toned usually, and the other Brit car is the one behind the wall of snow between the Zephyr and '57 Dodge Wagon.

I can hear that 1958 Plymouth rusting from all that salt water.

Is that a Fiat Isetta or a Beemer Isetta?

Yep, I heard that Fiat and BMW were working on the designs for modern Isetta-Topolino types of cars. Very cute! I want one for my Firesweep's trunk!

Now that I have one, and I'm aware how sketchy the parking brakes can be and the lack of a park pawl on earlier tranmissions. I've thought of how these cars handled the hills, especially in SF. Clearly from hemiDave's pic above, all the wheels are turned toward the curb - I'm sure there were plenty of mishaps!

CA Vehicle Code (and, probably every-other State's codes) 22509 allows local authorities (like in Frisco) to adopt rules
and ordinances requiring that vehicles must turn their wheels against a curbing (but CA stipulates that the street grade
be at least 3% in order to mandate such curb-contact).

That street looks to be about 10% grade.

That Coro vert, above, probably was built having Dog Dish wheel covers on it, with the dealership, or its owner opting to
install the standard plain wheel covers on it.

That car is painted in the standard 1-color, has no radio in it, and has plain-glass.

Its only visible options are the 2-tone steering wheel, the left outside rear view mirror, and the rear stone shields,
and its white-wall tires.

You're welcome! Judging by the old photos, the rarity of the '56-'58 Fury is evident even when they were relatively new. You don't find many "unposed" photos of them from the '50's.

How do you quote to include the photo?

This one has got me wondering. The Alfa Spyder is evident enough, but what is that green and white sedan that looks like an import in the background? and is that a Datsun 510 on the left?

Firstly that's a Fiat 850 Spyder, the green and white car is a Rambler American and please let's not start talking about Japanese cars in this thread.

Okay... yes, A Fiat 850 Spyder...

What year would the Rambler be?

And again, how does one quote the picture as well as the post?
