My reasoning is this:

'Road America' on the building would refer to the Elkhart Lake Wis racing circuit. There appears to be a number of cars to at least '63 in the pic, so '64 is a reasonable guess. And as there are a number of older cars in frame (even ignoring that dark sedan from c1930!), to conclude that it might be the gathering of students who spent part of their vacation mixing with the crowd at the Elkhart Lake June Sprints is also a strong possibility.

No problem, sometimes its hard to gauge the nature in which something a member posts is said,I was just trying to share some photos,I dont always know the entire history behind them...as I said I was unaware of that information, but I have updated the photos name to reflect the time as you requested.

My apologies for sounding so stern about it... I really didn't expect you to change the tag on the pic. But now you have, I believe it's most appropriate.

And isn't there a bunch of interesting cars in the mix, too? TRs, Jaguar sports cars, a number of Corvettes and there's an Alfa Spyder in there too. Add in the several cars from the fifties, the aforementioned one from either the end of the twenties or beginning of the thirties, the VW Kombi and so on, it's a good collection.

No worries,I dont get upset easily anyway.Yep,I agree,I love these old photos, its always interesting to see all the different makes and models of cars, the way people dressed, the buildings and advertisements.I especially like the ones with pretty girls in them.

I have no idea about those airport limos, they kind of look a little like Checker cabs, but I don't think they are.

It's too bad there isn't a way to go back in time.

If so, I got dibs on that 58 D-5 vert!

Went back to drool over its images, again, and noticed that it's missing its trunk "Dodge"
script-emblem!

Then, noticed that 60DesAdv's "parking lot" photo is presented reversed.

Well if thats the way its going to be then I call dibs on the girl and volunteer to distract her while you claim it.What the heck, with my knowledge of the past as well as future events I will be able to become incredibly wealthy, marry my dream girl and buy all the forward looks I want...but first of course I need the time machine!

No cars in this picture, but thought perhaps some here would enjoy it anyway since its full of 50's futurism.

Well, you see, if we ONLY had a FORWARDLOOK LIFESTYLE board....we could contact Mr. Peabody, on it, and "Away
We'd GO " [J. Gleason].

Deal. I get the car, you get the girl (and we'll see which one looks better in 50 years).

Looks like they had a problem with the name early on. I guess you never mess with Laura !!!!!

Maybe you'll find a clue like a matchbook or a doggy bag with some old pancakes amongst all the debris strewn about in the trunk! that is if BigM hasn't auctioned all that trunk treasure off on eBay.

Look how crudely (no pun intended) the top of the vault was formed.

Oh, yeah; that will hold back water intrusion.

Wait,do I get to trade her in for a new model every few years?

From what I've read it sounds like Dave the administrator considers the nether region Forward Looks catch all off topic area,so you could start a 50's lifestyle thread there.I just don't want to post a bunch of photos up here and have them all pulled down because they aren't car related.

Usually it's postcards you'll see here from me. But this time it's a nice photo.

Wish someone could tell me more about it ...

I've got a shot of the same car, as above; note the black-painted rims, plain
wheel covers, and dual antennae.

I'd always wondered if this was a Royal or a Coro, and if it was a D500.

Jim's photo answers those two questions.

I've only seen two real all-red 57 Dodges; this is one of them.

BTW, it is a Coronet, because of its black painted end plates on the fins, and Coros
did not have the "V" emblem on the trunk, that the CRL's & Roy's have on them.

And, that "V" emblem was simply that; a "V" emblem ornament; it did not connote the
existence of a V/8 engine in the car.

This car probably had the optional "Power Pack(age)" on it.

The standard Coro V/8 was the 2-bbl carb with a single exhaust.

However, the second exhaust pipe was a (rare-) stand-alone option, along with the
standard 2-bbl carb.

So, it is not certain that this car has the "Power Pack(age)" option, which included
the twice pipes (and exhaust deflectors), and a 4-bbl carburetor.

The car is wearing a CA license plate on it.

Surprise, surprise!

I got another one. Looks like grandma sitting in the far right front seat.

If anybody could give me the location of this photo. Now, that would be something!

Were the "teeth" on the rear bumper optional? I was half expecting to see 'em on the front of this '57 too!

I think only Custom Royals got them.

Yeah, only the 57 Custom Royal and Custom Sierra wagons got the bumper "spuds" (as they were called)
on them, and, as standard equipment.

In 1958, however, the bumper "bars"(then-) were optional on every model.

So, in 1958, you could have had a stripper 6-banger Coronet sedan with the 'bars', and/or you could have had an
E.F.I. Custom Royal convertible, without them.

Various 58 Regal Lancers are seen not to have had the 'bars' on their front bumpers.

Too bad the rear license plate was not photographed; it had the Registration year-sticker attached to it.

2-tone (Deluxe) steering wheel, but only the left outside rear view mirror, and non-tinted windows.

Jim, you also got any interior views of this ride?

I wonder if it had the Custom Coronet upholstery in it?
