Location: bishop, ca		That may be Cotton Owens, there, in #4.

The 40 Years of Stock Car Racing has him driving car #5.

If that is he, he qualified in #46, and finished in 43rd, exiting on the 15th lap (out of 364) due to "piston" failure.

The owner of the car is not disclosed, but I don't know whether Owens may have owned it, as he usually drove a 57
or a 58 Poncho, that was owned by Jim Stephens, and this looks like the only race that this D501 (? 340 HP listed on its
hood) may have been entered in a NASCAR race.

Curtis Turner, in Holman & Moody's 58 Fart, is listed in "40 Years" as being the driver of car #4 at the 1958 Darlington 500.

BTW, the MERC #14, at Darlington, was driven by George Dunn, who finished in 40th, after starting in 32nd; he went out
on lap 61, due to "engine" failure.

Yay! Another old radio station for me to investigate. This one is a Salt Lake City station that billed themselves as K-MORE and boasted being "first with Futur-Fonic sound." I am sure they had lots of spring-reverb in their on-air sound, which made the jocks sound like they were talking out of a cave. Every city had one.

I brightened up the shadows a little in the original picture so we could see some detail and, as a bonus, found a music chart from them as well. It's Futur-Fonic!
