While I was out in the shop yesterday as usual lately I was thinking about what a great time we had at Tulsa. One of the things I think most will agree on was that while the car was the catalyst in reality for most it was really an excuse to a road trip with our cars. All in all the condition of the car really didn't matter near as much as just being there. Watching the countdown clock on the home page for the last few years as the years, months and days clicked off was the real motivator for me to complete my car.

I now find myself going through a bit of withdrawals as the event is past, but was wondering what interest others would have in a 5 year "reunion" at where ever Ms Belvedere ends up. Personally I think it could be as good if not better than the original event. From what I see on here and over at PC there are several guys that are building cars that should be done in the near future, and from what I've seen a few people who would like to make some changes based on their experiences from this trip. (In my case I wanted to prove the car at constant 70-80 MPH Interstate speeds, next time I think I would like to do as John did .....take a more relaxed pace on the old 2 lanes).

For those that were there how many would do it all over again.......for those that weren't how many are still kicking themselves for NOT making it??? As far as I know it's still up in the air where the Tulsa Plymouth will end up at Branson, Vegas, Detroit who knows or cares. We've already proven most of these cars can still make the trip (and there are probably a bunch of people who are a LOT more confident in their cars).

5 years may seem like a long way out, but how fast did the last 5 go by? Consider that rooms will probably have to be booked a year out. The nuts and bolts for a car show put together (if there's enough interest) and a suitable parking garage with a nearby bar located. Then there's determining WHEN to do it so it won't conflict with any other major event going on and what works best for the most people to attend.

I've already decided that in 5 years I will be going to where ever Ms Belvedere is located at driving my 57. There have been a lot of suggestions on how it should be displayed and I would like to see what is actually done with it.

Anyone else up for another road trip??????

How about two years, from 6/15/07 ?

Branson works for me, or OKIE city; I know that I was passed by THREE cruisers, while I was passing thru the town, enroute
to T-own.

Of course, 2 years from now, the Plymmie SHOULD be permanently displayed IN Branson (@ 57 Heaven).....

Ya know what WOULD be neat (if, practically-impossible) is if we could meet up in Branson for the car's OFFICIAL
unveiling, IN Branson---most of us would have to fly-in, to see that happen, though.

...that event would give us a good reason to re-wear our Tulsarama T-shirts, too.

SO, has EVERYONE purchased their Glenn Barrett commemorative Tulsarama T-shirt, yet?????

Glenn still has a few remaining un-sold, he says.

Mike-- You already know you could count me in! But I don't think I could wait 5 years. I have been thinking about a regional get together maybe next year, but I want to hear other thoughts too. I like Neils Branson idea especially if that museum gets miss Belvie. Course Branson is just an easy drive for me.............MO

Hate to do it, necessarily, but big-birding it to Branson is a definite may-be, for their "official" un-veiling of the car (placed next to
Bob Schmidt's restoration, of the "identical" car, that he brought to Tulsa, to display, at the Invitational-Show!)

maybe we can get some new-bies to show up for it too.

Nathan's gotta do HIS part, & bring along the FAMILY-pack, of (East Tennessee) moonshine, though!!!

Well, I just got off the phone, with Bob Schmidt, and 57 Heaven IS absolutely interested in obtaining the car, and Bob is
receptive to the cleaning-off of one-half of the car , for presentation, next to the 57 Belvie that was displayed, at the Invitational
Car Show (which looks 'identical' to Ms. Belve)

Bob's also receptive to the idea of presenting/displaying the car, in a Diorama-setting, involving photo-backdrops, of the Courthouse
area.

Bob is presently away from Branson, but will return in a couple days, and, the contact with the winning-sisters might initially
be made via Tulsarama Officials, in the near future (apparently ain't happened yet).

Bob also (re-)confirmed that the 57 Dodge D501 , that 57 Heaven had bought, a few years ago, was 'traded' to Don Miller,
the "prez", of Penske Racing. Don is presently having the car be restored 'privately' .

57 Heaven does not presently have a D501 .

So THERE!

AND; Bob readilly acknowledges that the car would be a MAJOR attraction/drawing-card, for the museum.

Don't know WHEN the car's gonna be revealed, but DON'T bet against 57 Heaven getting it!

Well, realistically thinking, I can not imagine that 57 Heaven would have the car be cleaned-up & a display-area created prior
to the middle of next summer; maybe a Labor Day Grand-revealing? (that's the end of August, for our foreign correspondents).

Ok, just some reasoning on my thought of 5 years. Hell, time and money considerations aside I'm game anytime.

One of the big things about Tulsa was the ANICIPATION of the event. A year or 2 just seemed to short, especially when we don't even know for sure where it's going. As Neil brought up even after the car is puchased, donated or whatever the preservation/display efforts will need to be accomplished. After all thats settled then (hopefully) the owners can be contacted in sufficient time for them to make plans for hopefully a large group of us. Things like a Car show/display, negotiating room rates at a central hote/motel (how long was the double tree sold out?) and set a specific date that does not conflict with any other large doings. Who knows this could actually turn into a recurring event.

Also for many of us this WAS our 1 or 2 year vacation. How many people are in the boat of having the wife get to pick the location for next years vacation?????

For a lot of the member especially those that have to travel far this can turn into a pretty major expense the further out fopr planning the better. For the ones building cars a bit of time can also be important, it took me 2 1/2 years to get mine done.

I actually threw this out just as an idea, I'm really surprised at the response so far. Anyway, I'm not locked in stone about 5 years, but I do think it will be more special if we let a little time go by before we try this.

I like the 5 year from now reunion idea myself.
For one thing the way things are going it may be that long befor I get my 57 on the road.
Second of all I don't want to upset wiffie with another car oriented vacation right away, even though she does enjoy car shows and all I like to be fair with her.
I am sure where ever the car ends up and who ever owns it, they would entertain the idea of a reunion honoring " Miss Belvedere " as an anniversary celebration in say years.

I'm not adverse to a 5-year anniversary party (ANY party!) , but the car will be "presented" for the 1st time, only ONCE!

Dunno when that's gonna be, but 57 Heaven moves FAST (as in Money-is-NO-object; the owner, Glenn Patch reportedly just 'closed', on the purchase of 9,000 [that's right] acres of land, to develop a 747-capable AIRPORT, near Branson).

The car will be a Money-Maker, so I can envision an expedited clean-up/display creation.

Maybe we should create a new message-Board: BRANSON!
(altho that may yet be a tad premature.)

Bob Schmidt can give us the low-down, on where to reserve our rooms, etc!.

Well I'll be darned! Opened up the latest issue [July 12] of Old Cars Weekly, and there is definite proof of '57 Heaven's interest in Miss Belvedere! ---John

Yeah, well, Brent Burger sold me a drop-in-able 2.76:1 open rear end (to replace Horrie's 3.36:1 peg-leg) , so H.'s not
gonna be going anywhere 'quickly' (fast-ly, and quietly, maybe; but NOT quuickly!) .

Looking Forward to 17-ish highway mpg (from 13-ish hi-speed highway driving now).

It'll take 3 days of driving to get to Branson----sure wish that 57 Heaven had moved to VEGAS!!!! Yeah, baby!

Yeah, I HOPE that you can see it, Jimmy!

It's a 'famous' advertisement, that appeared in many magazines, and which is the ONLY one, to talk about, specifically, the
310 HP Super D500 option: "With 310 horses, and dual quads, it really TALKS YOUR LANGUAGE".

It shows a happy driver, in his CRL 2-dr, passing a bus, which is TAIL-GATING a Cur-vette, in the slow-lane, on a mountainous
interstate highway.

It seemed to be a fitting avatar.

I just noticed something, in my advertisement : BOTH occupants of the cur-vette are attractive women!!

Dunno if that's supposed to mean that cur's are supposed to be driven by 'girls', or if THAT is why the Dodge driver is
smiling to himself---having passed-up that curvy-vette, and seeing that it is being tail-gated by a BUS!????

Nowadays it's usually a bleach blond on the right, and an aging, tank-topped man wearing gold chains in the driver's seat. ---John

Word on that, dukeboy. There's no such thing as "job security" anymore - I, unfortunately, am living proof..... LOL!

That said, maybe there's something to look forward to when this 35 year-old reaches middle age after all.....

No blondes, though. Gimme a redhead that can fill out a sloppy joe sweater - and she's gotta dig fins & John Lee Hooker.
